Does this have anything to do with Secret Wars?

There is a Secret Wars film in development, but it's not known if it has any real connection to the comic book mini, since Marvel hasn't really built out the MCU yet, to cover things like the X-Men.

Got Andor vibes from the trailer -- as in, taking things more seriously and with more verisimilitude. I got nothing against "Marvel Candy", but you can't live on candy. This looks like a proper meal.

No, none of these Marvel properties have ever tied into one another.

I liked the trailer. It sucks we have to wait more than 3 months for this to premiere, but hopefully it will be worth the wait.

The trailer looks awesome, I'm excited that they're slowing things down a bit, hiring additional (and better) writers, punching up scripts and focusing more on quality versus quantity. This series looks to be benefiting from that recent shift in strategy.

They shot the series a year ago, Jackson cracked jokes in March and April of 2022 about going from the set of The Marvels to Secret Invasion (...and Ant-Man 3? Is he in Ant-Man 3?). So the story and scripts were written 2021/early 2022. Yes, Iger says Disney+ and Marvel and the rest are correcting to focus on quality more than quantity, but this series predates those statements.

Yep, that's fair.

…I mean, it’s got moody music and people glaring out of windows, I’m not really seeing what you’re all seeing outside of it being “serious™”. Cast is obviously a little more exciting than usual I guess but it all looks pretty blandly shot and I’m not entirely convinced this isn’t gonna be another 6-part movie that’s just long-winded goose chases over lean to the point narratives.

And I do hope I’m proven wrong before I get quarter into saying it, but I’m just burnt out on the effort following these empty calorie strands and I’m not buying into the whole “ooh, finally mature” that everyone else has got doe-eyed over.

This is my feeling on almost all the D+ Marvel/Star Wars shows. In marketing blurbs they always say something like "The longer format lets us dig deeper into the characters/tell deeper stories" but then you watch them and with few exceptions it's the exact same type of story with the same amount of character development, it's just 2-4 times as long. Hawkeye was barely more complex a story than Iron Man but for some reason it was almost 6 hours long.

Mini-rant aside, I too hope it's good, and while Marvel has lost its footing lately I'm not completely off the train yet. I'll watch it once all episodes have released.

I can't imagine him having anything to do with AM3, cause that film was completely separate from everything NF is involved in and everyone he's involved with. Even when he was with SHIELD, Hank Pym was so far above him in the 80's hierarchy of the agency that the two men wouldn't have likely had any interaction.

So I guess the running theory is that a Skrull has been impersonating Nick Fury for a while now, right?

The running theory is
[Show spoiler] that Talos was Fury in Age of Ultron.
