I suppose I could have looked it up prior to asking my apparently naive question, but it being a forum and all... At any rate, a simple "it's a noise reduction technique used in the early days of CDs" would have also sufficed. At any rate, I'm not that big of an MJ fan to dig into your query, so I'll leave it up to you to do so.

I responded with a joking GIF, sorry...I thought we had fun in here Who said I expected an essay? LOL Nope, cuz it obviously doesn't interest me enough, but you do you. I buy albums I like, will get replay value, I want to add to my collection and that I think will sound excellent...not sure how that equates to being a big fan, but that was your assumption. If by references you mean a term that I was initially unfamiliar with, but is quite simple to understand once I familiarized myself, yep you got me there...right over my "sweet summer child" head.
