I never stop to import blu-rays my friend, I just stopped to import steelbooks.
I'm sure I wouldn't have the nerves to open it so I must stay away...

I break #1 rule for thinking about it right?

Cheers,
Gui.

Thumbs up French Steelbooks

Anyone know anything about other french LOTR releases? Any other versions out except standard 6-disc? I have a friend who will be in France next week, are these steelbooks exclusive or will he be able to pick them up in store?

Any ideas? Thanks

Okay so here are a couple of TV screenshots I took:

English Subtitles

Technical Details

So as you can read, the English audio track is actually a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and not 6.1 like it says on the package. I'll further my analysis tomorrow.

They're not store exclusive or anything. So you can get them anywhere.

If you read the thread, folks from France were fairly certain that this was region locked before it even came out, much like District 9...and on Phil's post below with the edition details, he also states it's region locked.

The steelbooks have not shipped from amazon.fr yet, so unless you can find an independent review, I don't believe anyone in the states has them yet.

It would seem FNAC made a deal with New Line and managed to sell these two weeks before the official street date. They are nowhere to be seen in other stores.

i havent ordered from Amazon.fr lately and was wondering how they pack the steelbooks in their shipping boxes.is there a max size(box) that they use?i would like some feedbacks from the north american region since thats where these steels will end up at.

They use the foldover boxes, just like amazon.de and amazon.co.uk.

And I've found that using the regular service (expedited ships through Chronopost) is not as nice to steelbooks as the expedited.

YMMV, like anything.

does anyone know if the movie retains the original english subtitles for the elvish dialogue without having to leave english subtitles on for the entire movie?

bumping this since no one was able to answer my original question, i've rephrased it in hopes someone that has received it can check it out and perhaps even post a screenshot. I really want to buy this version but this is pretty much a deal breaker for me.

Sorry, I hadn't seen your question.

I'll try to find a passage in Elvish to take a screenshot. I believe they'll have erased all the English burnt-in subtitles and just created some new ones for French and English.
