Because of the 360-degree shutter angle as shot (movies are usually shot with a 180-degree shutter) then you're getting a lot of that 'soap opera' motion in the trailer, even at 24p, but it's still going to look HELLA soapy in 120 or even in 60, it's an unavoidable effect of having so much temporal information vs the strobey 24p motion we're so used to.
Me, I gots no problem with 24p in itself but I loved the hyper-real look of Billy Lynn's @ 60p on the UHD so I'm looking forward to seeing if Ang can actually combine a decent story with those stunning visuals this time around. The de-aging looks stellar, apart from that first shot in profile in the trailer. In the last shot of the young one in the trailer he looks more like Jaden Smith than Will IMO. |

Oh, I know with the higher framerate that it'll have the hyper-realism look to it--but I was saying that taking the intended 120-fps and taking it down to 24fps, probably makes that hyper-real look not come off as naturally intended as the 120fps it was shot at.
But, yeah, I think that visually, it looks solid still. So, not sure why another poster said it looked like a mess. |

The CG looks fine except when showing the side of Smith's young face early on.
The irony is using this technology on Will Smith, and not on someone a bit less ageless. All the dude has to do is shave and grow taller hair. Boom, he's 20 again instead of 30. |

Plot twist: the trailer doesn't have any CG yet

Well, the concept of the film was originally conceived in 1997, lol:

The trailer just ran during the NFL Draft. I looks like it could be something good.
Hopefully, it'll be shown in that high frame rate. |

Paramount always pushes their movies (more than any other studio). So many of their trailers, i get before everything.
