I was excited for this, but after watching the featurette - a little less so. Will Smith's 'younger self' has too many shades of Weta's Gollum for me. The character still lands in that 'uncanny valley' just enough to make me uncomfortable, or at best - just plain distracted.

so 120fps is only for 3D showings?...there won't be any 2D 120fps 4K screenings?

As long as theaters and tech are there, I assume there will be 2D HFR showing. In addition to the 4K 3D 120 showing I went to, another theater in my area also did 2D 2K 120 for Billy Lynn, but I noticed they stopped those showings after one weekend (I thought at the time due to poor box office, but apparently a bunch of theaters had technical problems).

There was some news a couple of months ago that this is "only" going to be 60fps 3D.

All that money, technology and talent, to create something I literally couldn’t give a word of worth to seeing. It would be more interesting if it was terrible, but it’s just actively and aggressively naff.

Most current cinema projectors can only do high frame rate 3D at 60fps and 2K resolution, so that will be the most common 3D format. But it will also be available in 24fps 2K 2D all the way up to 120fps 4k 3D for screens that have the most state-of-the-art dual-projection systems.

Eh, not feeling it. This new trailer is much busier, and somehow much less enticing. It'll probably be a fun actioner, but if there's anything special about it, the previews certainly don't show it. And I'm beginning to agree with those who feel they should have cast an older-looking star for this. Smith looks barely a year older than he was in his 20s.
