Default Offical Hdmi 1.4 Thread

.. Think that 1.3 added some cool stuff check out what HDMI1.4 can do!!!

http://www.businesswire.com/portal/s...65&newsLang=en

A little tease of what it does..
•4K x 2K Resolution Support
The new specification will enable HDMI devices to support high-definition (HD) resolutions four times beyond the resolution of 1080p. Support for 4K x 2K will allow the HDMI interface to transmit content at the same resolution as many digital theaters. Formats supported include:

•3840x2160 24Hz/25Hz/30Hz
•4096x2160 24Hz

The only thing I don't like is the 5 cable stuff. Way to confuse the average consumer even more. They could just have 3. The high speed w/ or w/o ethernet and then the auto stuff. Why would anyone not get at least the high speed, why have the lesser speed. Oh thats right, so they milk us like a freaking cow.

Ummm.. MOOOOoooo!

Actually I thought it was nice that there were more options available. Chances are retailers will have the cables separated, as they do now. Stores like Best Buy have most of there higher end HDMI cables only in their magnola stores or on their website. Hopefully they'll only carry they automotive cable in the auto section of the store. Though why people are so into having movies in their car on a tiny screen is beyond me. And why you'd need a HD 9" screen is what's really confusing. C'mon even 480i looks good at that size.

My big question is I have Monster (don't hate me) M1000 HDMI Cables (got a steal of a deal on Ebay) and they have the cables for life offer. Wonder if this "upgrade" means I'll be eligible for some free HDMI 1.4 cables...

Oh and the whole Mini thing has me bummed too. That's crazy, why does everything have to be smaller. Here's hoping it's an optional adapter.

This has been posted over and over again, and as was discussed in another thread none of this info is official as per HDMI.org:

Quote:
It has come to our attention that several news agencies have published information about the release of the next HDMI specification called 1.4. The release of information referring to the HDMI 1.4 specification has not been authorized by the HDMI Founders. Nor does HDMI Licensing, LLC confirm the accuracy of any of the information that has been posted online. In January of 2009, HDMI Licensing, LLC published a press release that provided a preview of the features for the next version of the HDMI specification. Please click here to view this press release.
