Sony to cut 10,000 jobs and to rationalise products - Blu-ray Forum

I wonder what impact this will have on Blu Ray? Is Blu Ray mature enough to go ahead without Sony, hence ensuing Sony will keep working on it's development and release, as they won't want to be left behind? Will this make it appear sooner than later?

I saw that too. Basically from what I gather, Sony is restructuring and and ending many of their fringe products, luxury items or just older products without much return. Blu ray, playstation and hdtv are certainly safe from that and if anything will gain more focus because of this development.
