Default Ice Age 3D Review Thread

Please only vote in the poll if you've seen the movie.

I thought we'd do the review thread a little differently. After you've seen the movie, vote in the poll. Blu-ray.com members that haven't seen the film can get a general star rating from the members that have seen it.

Also, please be courteous and use spoiler tags until the Monday following release (if you need to learn how to do spoiler tags, there's a sticky at the top of this forum).

So Ice Age 3D comes out tomorrow. Post your reviews here!

Is Queen Latifah going to be the female mammoth again? If so I'll might pass, and just get it on video when it comes out.

I watched The Melt Down on Blu 2 weeks ago, and I thought it was pretty annoyong with her character. Even her possum brothers were very annoying too. For some reason I can't stand Q. Latifah, and they should of just stick with the 3 main characters. That's just me.

1st movie FTW!

Ebert gave it 3 1/2 stars and loved it. He said with this one they can make tons more and take the series anywhere. Weird though, it's directed by the writer of the second.

The movie tumbled from 68% yesterday to 38% today on rotten tomatoes. At 68%, I was thinking it might be worth seeing in theaters (couldn't care less about 3D). Not so sure any more.

Will definitely be checking back in here to see what everyone thinks

I just saw it now. I didn't love the story as I am not big on the pregnant/nurturing story and I hate both Queen Latifa and Ray Romano voices.

But wow on the 3D! I guess I had never seen a 3D modern film yet. It was really stunning! I love those squirrels and of course any dinosaurs (who doesn't).

The CG and animation was top notch. I loved things like when the baby touches the snow particles and those tar bubbles!

Now I am wondering about Panasonic's 3D Blu-ray or TV concepts for next year!

Enjoy guys.

Quote:
On the foreign front, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs has officially become the third highest-grossing movie of all time. The animated comedy edged out Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to rank behind Titanic and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Worldwide (which combines both foreign and domestic grosses), it currently stands at No. 18 on the all time chart, just shy of Finding Nemo, which it will soon surpass.

The third Ice Age has made over $674 million thus far, accounting for a whopping 77.6 percent of its $869 million worldwide total. That's the greatest foreign ratio for an American blockbuster on record, exceeding such foreign favorites as the Harry Potter and The Da Vinci Code movies.

Based on its domestic run, Dawn of the Dinosaurs may seem like an unlikely contender for any all time chart. Despite the ticket price boost of its 3D presentations, its domestic gross is under $195 million, which is slightly less than its predecessor, Ice Age: The Meltdown. In terms of attendance, it trails both The Meltdown and the first Ice Age, domestically.

However, while the Ice Age franchise hasn't grown domestically, foreign appreciation has surged over the years, beginning with The Meltdown. The first Ice Age generated around $207 million overseas, but The Meltdown leapt to a smashing $460 million. Dawn of the Dinosaurs has continued that progression, capitalizing on a variety of factors, from the franchise's universal slapstick and family appeal to its flexibility in being tailored for each market.

Dawn of the Dinosaurs' biggest foreign markets have been Germany and France, where it's No. 1 for the year with mammoth tallies of $79.5 million and $69.5 million, respectively. The United Kingdom is its third highest-grossing market at $56.7 million, ranking second for the year behind the latest Harry Potter. It's also the top movie of 2009 in Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Spain and other countries, though it hasn't translated nearly as well in Asia.
I updated the numbers.

Yowza that's a lot of cash.

This was the first movie theatre experience for my two girls (4 and 2), they were glued to the screen the whole time. Both were fascinated, and had a fun time. My wife and I thought the movie was great too.

I will definetly purchase at some point on Blu.

Well I guess it means number 4 will be coming soon great

I disliked this one, the only saving grace was simon pegg and his jokes we're a bit to rude.

that means there's nothing to look forward to in the next one.
