It doesn't matter if I'm watching BD, DVD, or HD-the freakin' music is 10 times louder than the talking! I have to have it cranked to hear what people are saying but then my ears bleed when the music comes on...I have it hooked up via optic. The surround works great and everything it's just the audio levels. Please help with any suggestions on how to remedy this.

oh yes-I forgot, the sub is really picky when it kicks on. It'll kick on maybe mid-way through a scene you'd think it should be on-ex. a big gun fight or something-it'll just come on mid-way and really sound good, but the first part in comparison sounds like crap. I probably need to update the receiver?

Are the speaker matching?
what is the model # of the speakers? Has it always been this way? Have you done any audio calibration on the reciever? When watching a movie is the center speaker 'over powered' by the L/R speakers, washing out the center speaker? |

It's has been like this for a while-I've had the receiver a long time so I can't remember. I've done the calibration test that is set on the receiver with the static noise and you make it equal (and distance etc) The L/R speaker may be over powering the center-I will check. |

Oh my such little speakers. Start saving & get some real speakers. That is what the problem is
Your over powering all the speakers 'Recommended Power - 20 to 50 watts per channel; 150 watts peak ' Drop the bass & crank the high's up to see if the tweeker is still working, over powering will damage the tweeker & then you loss the Highs (voice range) Most speakers are min 100wt each. My JBL E50's are 90-150wt each & peak of 350wts. Last edited by clyon; 06-25-2007 at 10:50 PM. |

Thanks-I had 12" fronts and medium sized backs but due to moving and space I had to get rid of those and get these smaller ones-the guy at Circuit City told me they'd work fine. Of course that's not the first time I've been led astray buy the "professionals". I'll look into bigger speakers. And you're right-I think bigger speakers would contribute better than these small speakers and the sub. I've used your guys' suggestions and it seems to be better (until I get new speakers). Thank you guys for your help.
