Default Watchmen - Samsung Players and Maximum Movie Mode Issue

Like many end users, I have a Samsung player (the BD-P3600) and am unable to play Watchmen's Maximum Movie Mode. I heard from a Samsung support tech they're aware of the issue and engineers are working to release new firmware now. After some coaxing, he seemed to indicate new firmware would be available within days rather than weeks or months. I'm skeptical, though.

Let Samsung know how irritating this problem is and that you want new firmware now. Go to Samsung's Blu-Ray Resource Center:

http://pages.samsung.com/us/bluraysupport/support.html

and click on the "live help - start chat" button to chat with a tech.

I only got 35 minutes into this movie with no problems on my 4600. Unfortunately as much as I like my 4600 it seems like it is cheaply made and won't hold up. I got the Pioneer BD120 for my bedroom to replace it as it should be here today. If I don't like that...its back to PS3 (if the new model is a slim/or puts out less heat and noise). PS3 doesn't fit those qualifications it is Oppo time. I like movies to work at the time it happens and Samsung seems slower than other companies to get it right. The Pioneer will be here today and 4600 will be shipped out today as it is sold. Anyone has any questions on 1600/3600/4600 just ask me as I've been troubleshooting the 3600/4600 problems since I had mine.

Default 3600 Audio Problems

In addition to the problem I describe above, I've also notice strange audio stutters/pops on CD-Rs...anyone have any ideas?

All I can say is: It's a Samsung. That's why I've always stayed clear from that brand regardless of features and/or price.

So I'm not the only one? There's a reason that most threads with problems have to do with Samsung players and not because they're more popular.

The Watchman issue made me want to sell my 4600. That and the fact the fan seemed to get louder over time and just seemed the unit was falling apart. The Pioneer 120 I got loaded and played Watchmen just fine. Load times not as quick as Samsung but it wasn't that much more.

The Samsung tvs have been nothing be exceptional for me. The blu-ray players they need to get their act together on firmware/playback issues. Although on the 4600 I didn't have a problem with playback on over 100 blu-rays till Watchmen so I can't really complain. My issue was I wall mounted my 4600 and it would freeze a few times in movies on a somewhat regular basis. I noticed over time the fan got louder. I just didn't think the 4600 had a 'solid build' quality and would hold up over time. I had a 4 year warranty but I didn't want to bother. I do think the 3600/2550/1600 are solid units. Up until a recent few movies released I haven't heard of any playback issues of blu-rays. There are a lot of other players that have playback issues at one point or another.

Agree on both counts. I have a Samsung 850 TV and it's the best set I ever had. Can't say that about the BD player. Got fedup today and switched it for a Pioneer.
