It's out (according to Amazon.co.uk)! So who's seen the BD, and can give a full report?

wonder if someone will know if it is better or the same as the German version.
I have that one, and it is excellent--though locked.

I was wondering the same thing. I can't find reference to it anywhere...

Has anyone seen the Criterion Blu-ray version? Its also listed on Amazon UK... Nevermind, looks like I was too hasty; it seems its a 2-disc version, not a Criterion...

Review courtesy of DVDActive:

The short of it is that the A/V is pretty good and if you're looking for the upgrade, this is it

cant believe it was so well reviewed!

The German BD has 5.1 DTS MA and also has more extras! Where are all the extras from the Anchor Bay DVD release!? I bought it but returned it in protest!

Seems as if Optimum haven't been able to acquire the license to the extras as the ones from the AB DVD (now OOP) aren't present on the Optimum DVD release either.

So annoying! I sold my Anchor Bay disc of this for a mere £2 to clear for this and then wasn't happy with the BD. Now I have nothing!!

Still no word on region coding? I didn't see anything specific in the review - have to assume B only until I hear otherwise.

I just got a rental copy of it. It only has a B symbol on the disc. I'll check it on my region A player later to be certain, but I suspect it is locked.

EDIT: My region-A PS3 confirms that it is region-locked.

No worries.

Additionally, I suspect the trailers before the menu are in PAL standard definition (my TV said the output was 50hz for the trailers, 24hz for everything else), which I understand is a problem for most people in NTSC-standard countries even if they have a multi-region player.

But if you have the necessary equipment and you like the film, the blu-ray is the best you're going to see it without extensive restoration. If you accept the frequent white flecks and occasional scratches, it's fine.

Default When are we States side getting this blu?

Is Gilliam every going to restore this masterpiece to it's perfection as he intended or are the rights of this film in legal wrangling HELL?

I'm under the understanding that the Criterion DVD from 1999 was trash (Shocker) compared to the 2 disk dvd Divimax (high definition digital transfer) from Anchor Bay which also came with marvelous featurettes & fold out map to boot.

I pray to the film gods that this movie gets fully restored and brought to us as it was meant to be seen in the states.
