Default Internal Blu-ray drive to External

I have a LG GBC-H20L Blu-ray drive and I was wondering how I could make it a external drive. I was looking on newegg and saw the external enclosures and want to make sure that I am looking in the right direction.

Here are the Specs for it LG GBC-H20L

I would like to have firewire as the external interface. Anyone have some experience with this and does it work alright?

Yes, you need a SATA to Firewire interface converter when you get the external enclosure box.

Above is an example, you have get the right size for the drive, I think that's 5.25" form factor. Also you neednt' pay extra if you don't want eSATA interface.

Thanks for the answer. That is what I was thinking I would need, but I wasn't sure since it said it was for hard drives.

You could also use a 5.25" external enclosure for optical drives (SATA to USB 2.0). I have used this one with a blu-ray drive and it works very well. However, I no longer need it since I built my new computer, I could make you a price if you're interested.
