Default Upgrade from Onkyo 605

I am looking at upgrading my receiver from the Onkyo 605. anybody have any opinions? I'm using 7.1 speakers and watch 80% movies 20% music. I'm thinking of Marantz sr5003 or Denon 1910 primarly...

What speakers and sub are you running, and what's prompting the upgrade?

Monitor Audio RS8 mains, RSLCR centers, RS1 surrounds. I wanted to upgrade because I know eventually I would need pre outs for an external amp. Plus the Onkyo gets hot and the switching is annoying (clicking noise)

You aren't going to find preouts on the Denon, and the Marantz is a solid receiver. That's where my vote goes.

I agree with JasonR. Of the two you listed I would recommend the Marantz as well. However there are other good choices out there. What's your budget for this upgrade?

At that price, you might want to consider it. Refurbs are always tricky, so just be careful. However, if it is in top working condition, then the Marantz gets my vote as well with a budget of around $450.

I went with the Marantz, btw Isn't Forsberg making a comeback?

I don't think the Denon would be much of an upgrade. I just upgraded my 605 to an 806 for $600 and I am happy with it.
