Hi everyone! So here's my story, i hope you guys can help, i'm already desperated:
i bought this awesome laptop (aspire 8930g), it came with windows vista 32bit ( ![]() I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, it caught almost all the devices, i installed the latest nVida drivers for Win7, now everything seems to be working properly...but not the blu ray!! I installed all the codecs i found (k-lite pack, win7 codec pack...), and tried windows media, VLC, PowerDVD 9...all of them say the same "format not recognized" WHAAT?? It worked perfectly when i bought the laptop! Now with win7 nothing. I don't know, what do you need to play blu ray? Drivers or something? I used Aida32 to see what device do i have and i think this is the model: Pioneer BDR-TD01RS...but i havent found any info about it, even in the pioneer website!! Like it doesn't exist!! I emailed acer, pioneer, they didn't wanted to help. googled for ever...nothing. WHat can i do? I'm desperated. Please. Thank you so much. |

Not familiar with either the laptop or windows 7 at this point but I would have to guess it might be one of 2 things. Is your Windows 7 copy a final release or a pre-release canidate? If it is not a final release that may be an issue.
The other probable and more likely issue is you installed the 64-bit version. I would try doing a reinstall with the windows 7 32-bit version and see how that works. There are still a lot of issues with the 64-bit versions of Microsofts OS when it comes to drivers and software. |

I've had some problems with Windows 7 video because the codec packs/media player aren't fully patched yet to work with it. Basic stuff i usually don't have a problem with but anything that is super high res tends to either not work or be really crappy.

Rojas thank you for the link, didn't know that.
This is what i see: ![]() ![]() That EXEROJ drive is a virtual one from daemon tools. So no windows 7 64bit is running blu ray devices? So what do i need, a driver or something? I'm installing WinXP in VMware to see if it gets it, and i'm afraid i'll have to do what you say and reinstall it on 32bit version..arggg Will it work for sure in 32bit? Thank you |

I have tried to find it in 64bit version but i didn't make it.
I think windows 7 and furthermore in its 64bit version is too new for everyone. Besides, blu ray is not the only problem. I'm experimenting lots of issues (MSN won't work properly, lots of software are not compatible with win 7 or just any 64 bit system ...) Windows 7 looks nice and it gives you the feeling that's strong built, but the world is not ready for it and it's giving me too many headaches, so i'm throwing the towel. Tomorrow i'm busting it to WinXP uE SP3 2009, less shiny but working at 100% I'll come back to it when the time is right. Greets! And thank you for your time fellows. |

Just install both xp and windows 7 on the same computer. What I did was partition the drive into 2 drives. I installed xp on the first partition and installed Windows 7 64 on the second partition. When you boot up the computer you will ask what windows you want to run. Now for your problem with win 7 64. Do you see a drive letter for your blu ray drive? Do you see the title of the blu ray that you inserted into the drive? If so there might be nothing wrong with the drive. Now I don't know if this will help you. When I installed Win 7 64 I installed Jet audio than Media Player Home Cinema than Power DVD 9. Now I did not try playing a blu ray yet. I tried Media Player Home Cinema with my mkv files and it would crash alot. Now to fix that I had to install this. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Would I have any prolems playing Blu ray discs before this install I don't know. I tried power dvd with blu rays and they all loaded fine. Last edited by Eddie2u; 10-14-2009 at 09:32 PM. |

This sucks, I just switched to Windows 7 today and my Blu-ray capabilities went out the door too! I don't think we're going to be able to watch Blu-rays until the final release comes out. Which I think is 10/22/09, when it gets release to the public.

going by your screen shot of device manager the drive is fine.
try updating powerdvd, this is NOT a win7 issue as i can play both my blu's and my hddvd's just fine in arcsoft TMT3. |

I've had Windows 7 64bit (RTM) for months now and I have a BD drive and everything works fine. Only problem I had was when I installed Arcsoft's TotalMedia Extreme, it would make all my drives disappear (I know weird). However, the Blu-ray playback and drive recognition hasn't been a problem to date. J0ker maybe you got to try a different set of codecs, try downloading CCCP codec pack. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Windows supports Blu-ray natively.
http://www.cccp-project.net/ Also, I don't see a problem with your drive otherwise you would have gotten a yellow mark next to it on device manager. It's enumerated correctly. |

Hi fellows. Here i am back in the game.
I've had horribles headaches trying to fix this stupid computer messing up that i generated by tyring to install windows XP...i have ended with windows 7 again but this time in 32bit edition. So..what? Blu Ray is still not working. Thi "advisor" program that came with other BD device i bought for my desktop computer (which runs winXP and therefore perfect graphics BD) says that my OS is not valid to play BD. I tried it anyway with powerDVD and the answer was "Disc with not recognized format in drive D:" Any solution? Patch? Anything!!? Thank you! |
