Apologies if there is already a thread (couldn't find it it.) but it's time. The decade is coming to a close and it's time to throw down...your top ten of the decade.

Well, usually it goes something to this affect, 2000-2009. You don't go 2000-2010.

For future reference when discussing decades, from Dictionary.com

–noun 1. a period of ten years: the three decades from 1776 to 1806.

2. a period of ten years beginning with a year whose last digit is zero: the decade of the 1980s.

3. a group, set, or series of ten.

Wow a decade is 1990-1999 and now 2000-2009. Can't believe people on here do not know this .. When people refer to the 80s decade they certainly are not including 1990 and excluding 1980..

When you count, you don't start behind 0. You don't say, 0, 1, 2, 3...you start AFTER zero, and you progress. 1, 2, 3...

Anyway, it's a nonsense argument. Start from behind the zero, who cares.

agreed, so one second after 11:59:59 on 12/31/2009, the decade is done.

No, one second after that is between the 9th and 10th year, two seconds after that and the tenth year of the decade begins. The decade isn't done until the end of the 10th year.



Anyways, I don't care about this argument - one person would argue math, the other would argue social conventions, and the two don't neccessarily meet. So if you guys want to argue best films from 2000 - 2009, knock yourselves out.

sorry dude, he never specified EARTH years. he actually meant mercury years, on which a decade has already gone by in 2000-2009

It's nice to see someone remembered City of God. Fantastic film that too few people have seen.

These are my favorite movies of the ones that I think were the best of the best. I've only listed the ones I've seen. There are a lot I missed.

There Will Be Blood

Besides There Will Be Blood, I think all of these films carry equal weight. Well, maybe not Kill Bill, but those were the most fun.
