M$ pays $50 mill for exclusive rights for GTA eisodes - Blu-ray Forum

I just read this in The Gameinformer

"Microsoft has paid $50 million for exclusive rights to publish two exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable Xbox Live episodes, the first of which will appear in March. This is more money than Take-two has earned on all of its Xbox 360 titles combined ($43 million). Although the episodes' pricing hasn't benn announced, luckily they won't cost you 25 million Marketplace points apiece."

any thoughts on this?

I figure they would try something to get out of the bottom of the industry..lol

I am sure it will cost 9.99 per episode.

so does this mean GTA4 for PS3 = $59 and for 360 = $79+???? way to milk it... i guess when you buy exclusivitity you have to recoup some how right? what better way than to rape your consumers!

what if all the "exclusive" downloads are just stuff they couldn't fit on the DVD 9s??? what if they're already included on the 25/50G BDR?? that would be funny... lol... downloads are exclusives to the upgraded core/premiere/elite group... those with tard packs can sit back down!

What's even more sad is that the ppl with no HDD are left out in the dark. Unlike PS3 where it's a given that you have a HDD.

I'm wondering something. Could Rockstar just make whatever MS is willing to buy as far as GTA is concerned standard on the PS3 version? Or will the PS3 have their own exclusive details that will come standard when you buy the game? I know that MS won't give those exclusive episodes away for free on XBox Live because they're already 1 billion in the hole.

As much as it would be great if Rockstar put all of the content that was to be found on Xbox Live, on the PS3 version, it is highly unlikely....

My assumption is that this was a move by Microsoft to make people who own both systems buy the 360 one, as well as sway people who don't own either system to buy the cheaper 360....

I am sure somewhere along the line, Microsoft is assuming that it will recoup its money, but 50 million dollars is a lot for exclusive rights to some episodic content....

Either way, owning both systems, I for sure am going to buy the PS3 version regardless...
