Default The Bride Of Frankenstein on Blu-ray?

The Bride Of Frankenstein !!!This title is my all time favourite Universal Monster Movie , and it's high time it was given a Blu Ray release , as it can be appreciated on all kinds of levels : monster movie /art house movie/ camp comedy/gay interest movie etc.

It has high production values , superb sets costumes and make up , a great score by Franz Waxman , a marvellous cast Karloff , Lanchester , Clive and Thesiger , Frye , O'Connor ! Bring it on!

At least now a remake ( God forbid!! ) has been greenlit by Universal , we're more likely to see it come out on Blu Ray?

The director, James Whales, was a homosexual. It was a central theme in the movie "Gods and Monsters". Ian McKellen played him, appropriately enough.

Yeah, Bride is awesome. I fluctuate between that and "Frankenstein" as my favorite Universals. I love the homages as well, like "Frankenweenie" and "Young Frankenstein".

It would be awesome to have Universal put all their OG monster flicks on BD. I just hope they take their time and give us a quality product. Anything else would just be a huge disappointment.

Yes , what a great pity that Universal owns the rights to all these movies as they're not noted for the excellence of their remastering etc! Warner Bros or Criterion would do a really marvellous job on these movies!

Not to mention Universal initially backed HD-DVD and has taken their sweet time putting out their back catalogue titles....

And I'm very proud of him!
So next time homophobic people are pickin' on gays, just point out if there were no gays, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, the BEST Frankenstein OUT THERE NEVER woulda been made!!!

But yeah, in all seriousness, this needs to come to Blu-Ray along with every other Universal Monster movie out there....

The Turner Classic Movies Festival is showing a print of The Bride Of Frankenstein with new audio restoration , perhaps this signals that a new DVD/Blu Ray is waiting in the wings???

Just to point out, neither would Frankenstein.

I agree with previous posts. I wouldn't want to see this be the only Universal Monsters film released. That would be a travesty! Give us the entire Legacy series on Blu!!!!!!!!! I would soil myself after hearing news like that!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the kind words concerning gay people, as I am proud to be in that group.
But yes it would be awesome to have all the Universal classic horrors on blu-ray.
I also would love to see the Roger Corman, Vincent Price films based on the Poe stories released too, but alas they are owned my MGM, I believe, and since their catalogue is in limbo I will be waiting awhile I am sure.

Let's hope that the Turner Classic Movies Festival showing of this classic movie The Bride Of Frankenstein DOES herald a 2010 Blu Ray release! After all , in these days of cut backs , they haven't done an audio restoration for the good of their health have they?

I had really hoped that the Wolf Man remake would have led to the original Wolf Man on Blu, which in turn would've led to other Universal horror movies on Blu-ray. Too bad Universal missed this opportunity.

Still no word out there regarding The Bride of Frankenstein appearing on Blu Ray this year , and yet it's the 75th Anniversary of this classic title!!

Universal are so stupid missing out on all the potential marketing for example : reissues of the famous Aurora Monster kits with that cool James Bama Cover Art/posters/models etc they could start up a marketing frenzy I guess that the real Monster in the works is The Credit Crunch egad what a Horror!!

Well they probably won't do that, but maybe we will get a boxset.. They would be stupid not to release these titles on Bluray they are big sellers.
I just wonder how much restoration work will go into them.

Also let me add on top of the two Frankensteins and Wolfman they need to release The Invisible Man with Claude Rains as well. Awesome flick. Better then Wolfman IMO.
