Hi guys,
We're looking to pick up a new receiver, and I honestly need some help. Our budget is $420, andwe need something that works well. If anyone has any suggestions, or knows of any Black Friday deals, it would be a huge help. Thanks! |

Piggybacking on the Onkyo 607 mentioned in the above post...
Amazon currently has a deal on the Onkyo TX-SR607 for $349.99, plus you get a free Onkyo UP-A1 iPod dock. Free S&H of course! Lower than your budget but hey, who doesn't like to save as much as possible while getting the most bang for your buck? ![]() |

While I personally wouldn't consider the lower-end equipment manufacturers either, it should be noted that not everyone can afford top-notch equipment. John |

Hi: I'm thinking of replacing my pioneer elite 56Txi. I have a few questions to ask. I'm thinking of going with either 1910/2310 or a 2808/09or Marantz 5003/7001/2,my speakers are Axiom M-60's(mains) Vp150(Center) which one of the Denon/Marantz or any others you'd care to recommend? My main concern is the music side of the listening equation. My room is approx. 1,700 cubic feet. One final question what is the general opinion of the PS-3 as a blu-ray/DVD player? Thanks for all your help in advance it is very much appreciated!!!

I don't know what you think you are getting with Pioneer and Yamaha anymore these days because they both tend to bench test in the NOT so Good category too. Pio 1019 rated 28.7 wpc with 5 channels, not the 120 listed. The Yamaha 665 rated at 42 wpc with 5 channels. Fact of the matter is that companies are having to add so many features that entry-mid level receivers are losing power for features. Personally I think you need to be in a Marantz, Denon or Pioneer Elite in order not to get into the above categories |

i've owned onkyos and denons in the past. i currently have a 4308ci.
most AVRs mfr used to advertise true RMS 20hz-20kHz, but now all they advertise is 1kHz test signal and that's it. meaning when they say 100w into 7 ch. it's usually a lie. that is why i write off sony&sherwoods and no name brands, they tend to be the worst of the bunch. 100w is typically boils down to around 20w when load hits, i know not everyone plays it@0dB, blah blah blah, but those 2 are just not worth the $ because of features they don't have vs. any of the other brands. sony doesn't even make their own crap anymore, it's all re-branded Sony and they charge arm&leg for it. they might 'partner' w/people but they dont do their own direct mfr of stuff they put Sony logos on anymore. they're a shell of their former selves, it's the 'bose' of our times for AVRs. look, for amps it's all about dB/W, that makes it worthwhile. as long as any AVR doesn't give u less than 15dB/W you're fine. i think most avg. home cinema room sizes doesn't even need anymore than 5-10dB/W anyways... but i'm digressing. amps don't really matter as much anymore unless you have a 20FT x 60FT 'auditorium' for a HT room or u can build your own freakin' IMAX. just pick the features you want. |

I don't have any experience with the model you mentioned, but I have owned two Yamaha receivers and two Yamaha integrated amplifiers in the past. They were excellent. Many of the low priced Yamaha receivers have pre-outs.
