I have sold 2 ps3s and never deactivated my user accounts for downloading on them. I just did a quick format on both thinking that was all that was needed. Does formatting a ps3 deactivate your user account on that system or am I screwed?

As I understand it, activation basically registers a system online with Sony. Nothing you can do with the hard drive is going to change an activation. There's an option to activate/deactivate your account under Account Management on the XMB, use that.
