Does formatting a ps3 deactivate your user account on that system? - Blu-ray Forum

I have sold 2 ps3s and never deactivated my user accounts for downloading on them. I just did a quick format on both thinking that was all that was needed. Does formatting a ps3 deactivate your user account on that system or am I screwed?

thanks thats what I kinda figured.

Does anyone know of any other way to deactivate them so I wont have problems when I get another ps3? (I have 3 now and want a 4th for my youngest son for xmas)

Ill try to find a number for sony to get help

As I understand it, activation basically registers a system online with Sony. Nothing you can do with the hard drive is going to change an activation. There's an option to activate/deactivate your account under Account Management on the XMB, use that.

Yeah pretty much you have to call up and deal with customer support. And of course then you will have to risk them accusing you of sharing your downloads.
