Red face Want to purchase speakers, don't know anything about them

I really wanna get a nice pair of speakers this holiday season but I really have no clue about any of it.. What am I gonna need to buy along with the speakers..?? This is what I was looking at.. And if there are other things I'm going to need, please let me know! And a link would also be very helpful.

Everyone starts somewhere right . I did not know about this at one point .

If you want to take full advantage of the Audio codecs you get on Blu-ray Then you need to get A Receiver that can pass them threw or decode them . Then maybe start by buying your front towers & A center . The front sound stage is the most important . Then down the road you can add your surrounds .

The best way is to audition them , Go listen to different brands & see what sounds good to you .

Polk speakers are A good starting point & vary popular among alot of the members . Newegg.com is A good place to get them cheap .

Yamaha , onkyo, pioneer are some good receivers to look into as well .

Default Home Theater

What is being said is this : " That Coby system ( as well as ALL Coby products ) is a 5th rate piece of garbage that will not produce anything NEAR decent sound. Nor will it last for long after the warranty expires, if that long." If you want a true Home Theater package that will faithfully reproduce the HD audio from a Blu-Ray player, DVD player, HD TV signal, etc., you need a REAL system. Check out the system that emoxley recommended in his post. That is the bare minimum system that I would recommend for you. Also, check out the other Onkyo systems there and at http://www.accessories4less.com . The fact is, Onkyo makes THE BEST home theater systems for the money. And they are incredibly easy to set up using the built in Audyssey set up program.

Looks alright..... won't get the latest "HD" audio with it..... but it looks to be a nice little setup, and a good deal...

You get what you pay for, in most cases, with home theater gear.
A whole system for under $100? You won't have anything!

Speakers are the weakest link in any HTIB (home theater in a box). They just can't give you decent speakers, for the price they sell HTIBs for. This one is about as cheap as you're going to get, and have something decent. Still not the best speakers in the world, but upgradable, when you can afford them. That Coby system isn't upgradable at all. http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-S5200...541843&sr=1-14
It's selling for $488.98 right now, with free shipping.

You said you wanted a nice pair of speakers, but linked to the Coby 5.1 system. The Coby should come in a box of Cracker Jacks, as far as quality. I see you have 39 blu ray movies. How have you been watching them? What system do you already have?
