Default New Line's live action Hobbit

even though it's years from now when this non-war war is over, hypothetically speaking - if things were still true in 2010 as they are today (yeah...that's a stretch) -

the prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit, is slotted for a tentative 2009 theatrical release and it's being distributed by MGM with Sam Raimi at the helm.

interesting to say the least...

Well, it's not even worth discussing because by the time it gets released (if it ever does), who knows how the home market could be. HD-DVD might not even exist anymore.

That's all guesswork, nothing is official

If New Line doesn't start production by the end of the year, rights revert on Hobbit. MGM has always had the US distribution rights

This movie is in such developmental hell, it will be lucky to get made at all. Nothing on this movie has been finalized, it is really not even worth commenting on in any fashion at this point.
