Default Fake Fox HD DVD demo at Best Buy

Just got back from the local Bestbuy where I happened to catch a demo of the "new coming soon" Fox "HD-DVD" titles including The Simpsons Movie, Night at the Museum, Eragon, and Flyboys on the Toshiba A2. I have to say that the quality was not all that impressive. It was about the same as an up-converted DVD. When asked the Bestbuy staff confirmed that I was watching true HD-DVD of disks that Fox has or will be releasing (In HD-DVD). Glad I went Blu.

Slight dry humor aside, anybody think that Fox would be interested in a major chain store using ripped scenes from their DVDs to misrepresent product? If so do you have contact information?

Or did I wake up in some parallel universe in which Fox when neutral?

Read the post carefully. The title is very misleading!

Changed the thread title and bolded part of the post to make things a bit clearer.

It could've been made by a BBY HD-DUD fanboy. I would have a talk with the GM at that store and tell them that it is false advertising and it needs to get pulled ASAP.

Let's see:

- Copyright infringement
- Violation of the DMCA
- Possession of stolen property
- Consumer fraud

Someone needs to bring that to the attention of Fox ASAP.

Speaking As a long time Best Buy associate (5 1/2 yrs) You were viewing a Fox DVD demo disc. The associate you were talking to was either a) mis-informed, or b) a complete moron. Either way, all the stores should have a toshiba 1080p tv w/ an HD-DVD player running a HD-DVD demo disc. So your original opinion of the image quality looking upconverted was accurate.

Rest assured Fox is still Pro-Blu Ray only.

best buy isn't that stupid/smart to pull something off like this. they know they will be facing serious reprecussions if they did that. all i care about is an article or a proof fox is going to do that. and since there is nothing about it i am not paying attention to that. or there is a possibility that this thread is started by a fanboy who just wants to start something.

I'm pretty sure this was a burnt DVD being used to push the Toshiba player. The sales personnel were insisting that it was HD-DVD and the player was definitely an A2. They also insisted that these titles were out on or coming to HD-DVD. The disk did not look like anything official. IT had a plain text homemade type menu on a blue background and all titles were Fox/MGM with no promotional markings anywhere for either Toshiba or Fox. Just full scenes from the movies.
