Sam Mendes in negotiation to Direct Bond 23 - Blu-ray Forum

It is all over the internet, Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road, Road to Perdition (with Daniel Craig),Jarhead, and Away We Go) is in negotiations to direct Bond 23.

What do you think?

Mendes is great with dark, violent subject matter as proven by Road to Perdition and does a fine job with character development as proven by everything else he's done. I'm sure he'll do Bond justice.

Sam has some great movies under his belt, I would definitely pay to see him do a Bond.

I'd rather see the Casino Royal director back.

My biggest issue with Sam's portfolio is that there wasn't a significant action sequence among the lot.

Kate Winslet would be yummy as the next Bond girl, but she'd probably have Sam replace Craig with Leo.

i thought the scene in road to perdition towards the end where he kills the entire mob was one of the most powerful scenes of the decade!

Mendes has made some excellent films-- the drama and acting would be up a few notches...

but would the action and excitement be down a few notches? I don't see him as an action director....

Agreed Martin Campbell is a very good director especially with action scenes. Jim Cameron would be very proud

Apparently you have only seen 1 film by Sam Medes and think that is all he can do. The Road to Perdition is hardly a suburban drama.

He's got some great films to his credit. I wouldn't mind seeing what he could do with the Bond franchise. Better him than McG.

Typically, action sequences are usually shot by the second unit anyway. They are bringing Mendes on to ensure the acting and dramatic portions are solid.

That said, I haven't liked any of his movies, yet i love Bond. I guess I'll hope this will work...?

good point but I still think American Beauty & Revolutionary Road is his best work

Not his kind of movie, I'd actually rather see him direct another drama because he usually strikes gold.
