Default Scum Bags Shelved Alan Wake :(

I don't play many games at all, but this was one i really wanted to play on my massive monitor. Seemed to have great story & atmosphere with killer visuals. I just found out its not coming on PC, what ass wipes Microsoft are. Utter pricks.

First time even hearing about this game, but it looks really cool. If it sells huge on the XBox, then I'm sure Microsoft will eventually port it over.....unless they already did a trial and it ended up being way too buggy to invest more resources into it. Time will tell though.

I wouldn't count on it, even if it does well on the 360. Here's the statement from Microsoft:
Quote:
"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience "Alan Wake" was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform."

Yeah because that makes so much sense. Microsoft just wants the 360 to have real exclusives. Thats why they stopped releasing their games on PC. When I have a PC and PS3 there is no incentive to get a 360 because all the good games are available to me. So they are building a library of games that you can't get anywhere else like Sony has been. Probably won't ever get a 360 though. Too many games and too little money.

MS knows their lineup of pure exclusives is rather thin, and rather than develop new IPs product specifically for the 360, when they see a promising title that could potentially boost the Xbox, they make it exclusive, kinda screwing PC gamers in the process.

This has happened a lot:
Halo 3 (after having made, for no good reason, Halo 2 a Windows Vista mandatory), GeoW 2, Fable 2...

and now Alan Wake.

It's funny how so many people and gaming magazines thought that MS might be the savior of PC gaming back at the release of Vista and their "Gaming for Windows" initiative, when in retrospective all they did was try to funnel gamers from the PC to the Xbox where they get massive royalties.

Won't say all the good I think of all this, would get the thread locked (might get there anyway given the subject) and myself banned hehe.

And the bolded of what you have stated has been my feeling about this for quite some time.

I'm not holding my breath in hopes that it still comes to the PC, and I won't be buying a 360 to play this.

LOL...

Yes I live in MS country, even worked there at one time while working for another company.

While I want to see the company succeed for the local economy, I by no means agree with some of their tactics in the gaming industry especially the pc. With that being said, I have been looking forward to playing this game on the PC since it was announced and was highly disappointed when it was announced that it wasn't coming to PC anymore. It is pretty obvious why they did this as their current slate for new IP's is non-existent.

Also, here locally most retailers have pretty much promoted the 360, but since the PS3 slim has come out with a new price point...those jokers (PS3's) have been flying off the shelves almost faster then you can blink. It has been rare at most Best Buy's and the one and only Fry's stores to find a PS3 on the shelf (120GB or 250GB). I'm sure MS has noticed this.

I really think this move with making Alan Wake 360 Exclusive is partially an attempt to entice PC gamers to buy a 360. It was obviously a business decision to help boost sales, but I won't be buying. I have plenty PC games and PS3 games to keep me busy. For MS's sake, this game better sell well, because if not it's their own fault.

I hear you. I have family in Kirkland (sisters husband works for MS) as well as some friends. Brother in law actually enjoyed playing the PS3 surprisingly, but PS3 is evil though it seems by most people in the area, lol

Luckily I have a 360, so this really doesn't bother me.
