Two words that should be mutually exclusive - "blade" and "kitten" - come together on the PlayStation Network this spring.
Krome Studios has announced that Blade Kitten, based on the comic book series by creator Steve Stamatiadis, will come to life in video game form. Bounty hunter Kit Ballard takes the lead in this colorful action/adventure game, where you traverse the world of Hollow Wish, executing your own unique brand of cat-like justice. Kit is part cat, part girl and holds the "Darque Blade," which is a hovering sword she uses to slash through her foes (is anyone else suddenly reminded of the Sword Familiar in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night?). Skiffy, the sidekick, will assist as well, and the gameplay involves fast-paced combat, plus a bit of item collecting and puzzle solving. Stamatiadis is also the co-founder and creative director of Krome Studios, and he said:
"Blade Kitten is a brain child of mine that originated as a comic series. Bringing Kit’s anime-inspired universe to life is a milestone for us, and we’re excited to open her world up to gamers on the PlayStation Network."
Krome explains the game as a step beyond most downloadable titles, because it will offer a "strong narrative, high-quality cinematics, and a colorful, frenetic visual style." The game features 19 levels, plus three "exploration levels" with Noot, your ride-able alien mount. The entire game will be a two-part miniseries and if you want a sneak peek, tune into GameTrailers TV tonight at 12:30 a.m. ET/PT on Spike TV for an exclusive trailer and gameplay footage.
