Default OFF-TOPIC - Wirless N Router Questions

Giving this a shot, hoping someone might have some info/knowledge about this. Here is my scenario, and a couple questions I have:

Have a Belkin G router now. Works well, but its old (4+ years) and the range does not cover the house (little or no signal at far-end bedrooms and finished basement in a 1900 sq ft ranch-style home, never an 'excellent' signal anywhere in the house aside from right next to it). Looking to upgrade to an N router for larger range. Will be connecting wireless to a Toshiba with Vista Home Premium, hard wired and wireless on occassion to a Dell running Windows XP, and then wireless to PS3 and Panny Viera. iPhone Wifi will be used once in a while as well. Here are the two I'm considering:

http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Wireles.../dp/B001CEYYFK

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-AirPort-...6605232&sr=1-1

Questions:

- Anyone have any thoughts about the Belkin? Most reviews appear to be either great or terrible, but its a CNET Editor's Choice. I'm just concerned about the dropped signal issue that seems to be prevalent.

- I like the Apple Airport (a couple friends recommend it), but its evident the 5ghz stream means nothing to me at this point (will be more of an upgrade-ready set-up). But I've heard the AA is pointless if there's no Mac in the house as some features are basically 'Mac only' perks and others just work better with a Mac. Plus it is expensive. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

I use a Linksys Wireless N at home with DD-WRT firmware on it and it works OK. I tried one of the first Belkin's when they first came out and wasn't really happy with it, of course N was still in the "draft" stage then. Also does the wireless card in the Toshiba support N technology?

Yes, it does. Its only single band though at 2.4, thus my comment about the 5ghz of the Apple being overkill for now.

I honestly can say that I'm new to the wireless router thing, but I'm using the Netgear WNR3500 RangeMax Wireless-N Gigabit Router. So far, I haven't experienced dropped connections and all seems to be working very well.

I recently upgraded my wireless router from Linksys G router to WRT610N dual band router. So far the router performance is very good and the internet connection is very fast.
I also heard good thing about Apple Airport Extreme but i haven't tried yet.
