Default Gramma Sub Riser

Hi Guys, I was wondering if any of you use an Auralex Gramma sub riser? If so, did you notice a difference in sound? I'm thinking about getting one because my sub shakes the pictures on my walls and makes the bass sound crappy during movie scenes with really low bass. Do you think this will help with this problem? I don't have a lot of room to place my sub somewhere else in the room so I'm hoping getting a Gramma will do the trick.

For the same price you can build one and probably get better performance. That's what I did and I'm very happy with the results. Pics are in my HT gallery.

I thought about doing that but I'm not a handy type of guy and I have limited tools You should build those risers and sell them to people like myself

Check the https://forum.blu-ray.com/subwoofers...er-risers.html thread.

I believe DobyBlue owns a Gramma.

I got my Gramma today and so far so good. My pictures on the walls are no longer rattling and the bass seems to be different. I was only able to test it with music so far but later this week I will be watching 2012 I'm assuming this movie will really put it to the test

You should put it to the test with a movie your familiar with?

Don't count on it. I watched it wiht my 2 15"s and I was really disappointed wiht the bass that came form it. Perhaps I was expecting more but like the scene at yellow stone(i won't say what for sake of spoilers) I was expecting some massive BASS and nada. Then again you never know, maybe you'll have a better experinece then me. Try termintor salvation, now that movie got some killer LFE levels in it.

I've gotta disagree with this as far as 2012 goes. I watched it last night with my dual eD subs, and it felt like the house was caving in on top of me. I also watched Terminator Salvation last weekend, and the LFE was good, but certainly didn't rumble the way 2012 did. I've had my dual setup for nearly 2 months now and have put all sorts of hard-hitting movies through it (Incredible Hulk, Kung Fu Panda, Terminator Salvation, Dark Knight, and many others). 2012 was the first time I felt that my subs were getting pushed too hard and I turned them down. As a point of reference, I usually listen to my movies between -5 and 0 reference level, with my subs running "hot" at about 80 dbs while the rest are 75 (+5).

I know when I got mine the bass did drop off a bit but it was tighter. Once I re-calibrated the system to allow for the Gramma, it sounded much better. I noticed a nice improvement in quality all around and the bass seemed to mesh with the rest of the system more fluidly.

I like mine. It has helped with vibrations and has seemed to tighten the bass up a bit. I got it from sweetwater, it was less than everywhere else and they had it to me in 3 days.

I like mine as well. My theater is on a raised wood floor in my basment, and it is really booms without it. Nice and tight with it.

Do you guys find yourselves turning up the volume up more on your subs with using the Gramma?

I personally don't. I calibrate to the same level as my speakers either way. It is tighter, but the volume level is the same either way for me.

I built a riser rather than buying a GRAMMA, but I had to turn my subwoofer down. According to my trusty SPL meter I got a 3 dB increse from the riser.

Terminator Salvation is an excellent suggestion for testing out your sub. I'm looking foward to seeing how 2012 will sound as well.

I'm an Xbox360 guy and I have 3 stand alone BD players so there was really never a reason for me to get one
