Expensive for blank media but... It's nice to have an idea about the highest price you can expect
Thanks for the information.

IIRC when 4.7 GB DVD-R disks first showed up several years ago they were $10.00 (US) or more. They rapidly came down over the following year or so.

This is starting out a bit high priced, but still about 1/4 the price per GB of the original DVD-R disks. I expect them to be about half this price (or less) by summer 2007.

Now if I can get 200 GB write once disks by summer of 2008 at $20 each or less (in quantity) then I'll be a happy camper.

I think the pricing for a niche product like this is really good.

What a bargain. When CD blanks first came out in Australia they were roughly that price (now a few cents) so for 50GB vs ~650MB well that makes blu Ray VERY cheap per MB. By the time the players come out and are readily available (I’m guessing Sept - Oct 06) they will be a great deal cheaper. DVD blanks in Australia dropped by 50% every 6 months for a couple of years - I would expect blu ray to no different, maybe a little more aggresivly if HD DVD is still alive and kicking.
