Default It Might Get Loud ~ Blu-ray

Am I the only person who HIGHLY enjoyed this movie? I thought it would be good, but since I watched it, I keep remembering great moments.

I think U2 is the greatest rock band, bar none, in the history of the craft, so it was a day one purchase for me for the Edge factor alone. That being said, I have no shortage of love for Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page, as well. Jack White? Meh.

I pre-ordered it after the initial Rolling Stone.com announcement of it's coming...then enjoyed it once alone, shared it with my son, and am proud it's there for future viewings...

I thought it was great, I especially liked the director's commentary as it shed alot of light on what was going on behind the scenes.

Ya, this is a great doc. Putting three amazing musicians together and just having them jam and talk about themselves is awesome. I really enjoyed this one a lot.

Default Good, but could've been better.

Three guitar greats in one room and we get several little snippets of their songs along with a seemingly 25 minute cover version of "Take a Load off Sally" or whatever that song is. Seems like a huge oversight to me.
Don't get me wrong i enjoyed it immensely, but it seems they had a chance to do something really "important" and all we get is Take a Load off Sally.

I also thought it was weird that you put Edge and Jack White together. Those two seem to be on opposite ends of the creative process. Edge can't go pee without stepping on at least three effects pedals. Meanwhile Jack limits himself to certain instruments, arrangements, restrictions on every album in order to keep it fresh and not allow himself to get comfortable.

Anyone know if Jack's backstory is true? I've been a fan for a long time and although i knew that he apprenticed as an upholsterer, i had no idea he had a band called "the Upholsterers." Seems we all would've seen copies of this on Ebay for five gazillion dollars. His story seemed made up, which kinda makes me laugh now.

I am a fan of all the musicians, I know a little more about Led Zeppelin's catalog than U2, but after hearing what Jack White was trying to do with the White Stripes music (keep it simple), I am now going through all of their music. He is a good guitar player in these years where we seem to be falling short of music talent. None of the other guitarists in the video can match Jimmy Page's talent and experience, though. Not the greatest player of all time, but the best in this documentary.

I do agree that they had a chance to get these guitarists to play GREAT music and show great improv skills, and they wasted it on Take a Load Off Sally. The Bonus Features had some of the best music.

It makes no sense why Jack would lie about his background. He does seems to be one of those people who you just never hear anything about, though.

I would love to share it with my daughter, but she is only 2 1/2 and all she wants to see musically is Grease and Elton John on his 60th birthday at Madison Square Garden. I love both of those Blu-rays, but it's up to me to teach her about all music. What a long road I have...

May pick this up at some point, when it reaches a reasonable price point.

I think he'd do it just for a laugh. Seriously though, try to find a copy of "The Upholsterers."
I might have to get this if the bonus features are that good. What do they do?

I don't like U2 (or rather ... I'm not a fan... U2 is fine, I just never got into their stuff) and I'm fully unfamiliar with Jack White except I think he plays on the Quantum of Solace theme song. (Which I hated at first but it's ok now.)

I like Led Zep quite a lot though... I may rent this at some point. Or I'll buy it blind under $5.

I did a search on ebay for their EP- "Makers of High Grade Suites", but didn't see anything. The 3 songs are on youtube though.

I used to be a real big U2 fan but of late my patience for them is waning, so the Edge bits were the least interesting for me as I knew quite a bit about him already from biogs doc etc, that being said I still enjoyed his bit but compared to Page & White they were much more interesting. While I'm not a die hard Zep fan I do appreciate their music allot and watching Jimmy play is always good but Jack is my main reason for buying this.

I've been a White fan now for a number of years and are a member of his Vault scheme so the White stuff was the bits I was most looking forward to and I wasn't disappointed, a very enjoyable documentary, nothing too in depth but it will be getting watched in the near future again and I had no qualms about splashing out for it as a new release at the beginning of the year.

Looking forward to getting the new White stripes Blu ray soon as well.
