Default Does anyone recommend Training Day?

Not much is said about this title, was it a lousy transfer or a worthy pickup? Please only post if youve seen it on Blu ray, thanks!!

I liked it, I think they did a decent (not great) job at it. But the movie itself was good and PQ/AQ passes for HD. So if you can find it cheap (like $15 or something), I would say its worth it.

I thought it pretty good. I have set myself up with online rentals so I can see the movie and judge for myself to buy a movie. At the end of the day I spend my hard earned money on stuff, one person point of view could be totally different then another persons point of view.

I had a friend once tell me " Every Movie you see is great" My answer is "I only go see movies I might or will like!"

I believe its an mpeg2 compression. and as far as mpeg2s go ''king kong ain't got nothing on me''. I really liked the look. and it has eva mendes nude in it.

I like the movie, and I like Denzel. It's a good combination as he was really great in it, but he shouldn't have gotten an Oscar for it.

Wow, quite the varied opinion on this title. I, personally, LOVE THIS BLU-RAY! In my eyes it is easily in the top 3 titles that Warner has released in the way of Quality. It is a VC-1 compression transfer that actually allows me to see light shading details INSIDE DENZEL WASHINGTONs PORES!!!

Read my full review HERE.

P.S. I forgot to mention the fantastic colour definition in my Video Analysis!

I LOVED THIS MOVIE AS WELL-will also be getting this shortly thanks to this thread!! I love Denzel-he is such a great actor. I wish he would have won for a movie like Titans rather than this movie-but still very good!

The PQ is good on my 1080i tv (didn't upgrade yet). That, plus I just like the movie because it was Denzel playing against what he's normally cast as, the good guy/hero.

Just re-watched Training Day, for the first time on Blu. This is an amazing print, and far superior to the regular DVD.

Re: the film itself, overall it was a great action flick, morality tale, and depiction of modern-day L.A. (or at least modern-day L.A. in he early 200X's.); the city was as much of a character in the film as Jake Hoyt & Alonzo. I liked how Hoyt (Hawke) changed from a somewhat idealistic rookie to much harder & tougher in the course of a day. The scene near the end when Alonzo was asking the people in the street to take out Hoyt and they ignored him (because they hated Alonzo, obviously) was IMHO one of the most iconic scenes in cinema - extremely well-done.

The one problem I have with the film is
[Show spoiler]the scene when Hoyt is about to be offed by the gang, and when searching him they find the wallet of the girl that he had saved earlier in the day...and, that girl coincidentally ended up being the cousin of one of the gang...and this saved his life. Sure, I know coincidences do happen, but the likely-hood of this happening in a city the size of L.A. is probably about a million to one....

I can't confirm or deny, but nobody's mentioned the lossy soundtrack? DD 5.1.

Probably why some have skipped this one. Has this changed?

I used to like the film when I was younger.

I rewatched it a couple of months ago and boy was I bored. It's cool how the entire thing takes place in one day, but I found it be pretty average - if not below average.

Jon Schmidt recommends this blu ray. Great movie, great performances, it's a noticeable upgrade over the DVD, and the price is right.
