Default Netflix and Inglourious Basterds VS. Me

FINALLY!! I have had the Inglourious Basterds Blu-ray in my Netflix queue since before it came out December, 15 2009. Since then it has been at the very top of my queue the entire time. Today, over six months after it was released, it is finally on its way. I don't know, I guess I assumed that since Netflix started charging extra to rent BD titles tht maybe they would get more stock in so 1/2 year waits wouldn't occur. I've found out that if I do not time it perfectly and have a open slot for them to send me a movie on its release date, then I will have to wait a good month or two before I get it. I love Netflix, for the most part, but the wait time on some movies is incredibly long, and when the same movie is listed as "long wait" for weeks on end my brain begins to implode. Am I the only one?

My experience has been similar to yours. I have received and watched The Blind Side and Inglourious Basterds over the last few days after a few months wait. Timing has to be perfect to get a new release on the release date. I expect The Lovely Bones tomorrow.

Netflix really needs to work harder on stocking BDs. The 1 month delay with Blockbuster and the low quantity right after the delay will cost them some customers.

I agree on both counts. I bought my copy the week it was released (saw it in theatres too) and have watched it several times since.

I bought it used for $5.24 shipped from Hollywood Video long ago.

I only watched it once though and didn't like it. Maybe I'll give it another spin someday.

I've had the same thing with Paranormal Activity since its release in December. A couple of stray ones have drifted to the top but otherwise its been patiently perched in the #1 position. Oh well.

I got to watch this film on netflix 3 months ago, I'd be pissed to have to wait that long.

Actually, the 1 month delay was to cure what was CAUSING the low quantity right after the delay.
(Namely, studios stingy on their Blu licenses during the first release weeks...If Netflix goes along with the "exclusive" studio delays, they get to have more copies to sent out.)

Me, I wasn't excited about it, so I could take the wait--
But I gave up and downloaded it in HD when PS3 Store had that Universal contest.

My thoughts exactly. Not every movie is worth buying. Before I switched to BR I bought every single title that looked good every Tuesday. It was as though I saw it as a holiday each week. I spent thousands on titles I never watched or watched once. They're now collecting dust as I try to sell them off. Nowadays I buy a BR if I know I'll watch it over and over again and the ones I am unsure of I will watch first.

This is why I have not switched to BR on Netflix yet. I find that waiting 6 months for a new release is ridiculous. They keep raising their prices citing improvements to their stock and such but it doesn't seem to filter down to the customer. I've been with them for years and years, their story never changes.

Indeed, saw it at the theaters as well-- blew me away--and bought it first week of release. And as a fan of Quentin Tarantino, I've never been disappointed with his work.

I just recently joined Netflix. Mostly to stream TV seasons, but I'll watch the occasional movie too. Just DVD for now, I figure if there's a title I'm interested in I'll rent it on DVD and if I like it I'll buy it on Blu-ray.

The trick with Netflix is this: If you want a new release BD on its respective day (usually a Tuesday) you must mail in another disc on the Saturday before. If you do your chances of getting the movie you're after seems to increase exponentially, at least in my 2 year experience with Netflix. I got Inglourious Basterds on its release day, watched it, and ended up buying it a few days later for $19.99.

Frailty is like that for me. I didn't mail in a film the Saturday before so I missed the window and it has said Very Long Wait ever since.

I rent BD's exclusively from Netflix. It's still a pretty good deal with the free streaming, many of which are HD quality (720P). I have never waited more than 2 months for a BD at the top of my queue.

Anyone watch the original Inglorious Bastards on Netflix streaming?
