Just in time for the new holiday season.

New Line (owned by Warner) has announced plans to bring a “double-dip” of the 2003 Jon Favreau directed comedy “Elf” starring Will Ferrell (which is already available on Blu-ray) in the form of a “Ultimate Collector’s Edition” tin Blu-ray Disc set on October 26th — just in time for the holiday season. The tech specs on the movie will be identical to the release already available, with full 1080p Hi-Def video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound. This isn’t yet available for pre-order but stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated. The physical bonus material included in the collectible tin are listed below.

* 5-track Soundtrack CD Sampler
* 14″ Plush Elf Holiday Stocking
* 15 Gift Tag Stickers
* 5×7″ Magnetic Elf Picture Frame with 4×6″ Magnet

It will definitely be the exact same BD that is already available. WB's marketing department is horribly predictable in trying to cash-in with these deluxe editions no one but retailers are asking for.

My thoughts exactly. I like the movie and would definitely buy a standard edition of it at a cheaper price but a big fancy set is not needed at all for this movie, I mean really.

I feel the same way. Love Sport Deschanel, but I have yet to upgrade and will certainly pass on this.

I guess it's a nice holiday bonus for those who are fans of the film. I'm fine with seeing it once a year around X-mas when it's playing on TBS. I'd say it's safe to say that the disk will be the same as the '08 release.

I think they are positioning this to fit in with the Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation releases.

I can't believe this UCE even has its own thread. I also can't believe I wasted my time typing out this response. Oh well, I'll throw in my opinion I guess:

This movie was funny, and a great family Christmas movie, but I definitely don't think it warrants a UCE. This has to be a really late April fools joke that took a lot of time to develop and spread.
