Default NBC to End iTunes Sales of Its Shows

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/31/technology/31NBC.html

NBC Universal shows can be bought though Xbox Live: http://www.xbox.com:80/en-US/live/ma...viestv/nbc.htm

Isn't that interesting.
Universal is HD DVD only
No Universal Studios movies on iTunes
NBC Universal TV shows will be on Xbox
NBC Universal TV shows will not be on iTunes
Universal Music Group is ditching iTunes

Now, I wonder when Paramount and related content will be pulled from iTunes

Interesting.

I guess it is a coincidence that Apple and Disney (Jobs) are major Blu-ray supporters?

The risks that media companies face in removing content from well-known Web sites involve perception and promotion. NBC Universal could anger consumers by preventing them from easily watching shows and movies in the most popular way — through iTunes and the iPod.
Tell that to Paramount.

As the article states, Universal Music Group is not owned by Universal, but Vivendi. I don't know if UMG withdrawing support for iTunes has anything to do with the format war.

Well, they didn't withdraw completely. They are supporting it on a case by case basis.

Basically you're going to see a mass pullout of iTunes I think, to force Apple to do what they want.

Well, here's an article that tries to put things in perspective:
