![]() Pleasantville Blu-ray Pleasantville Blu-ray Review “Pleasantville” In the black-and-white ’50s sitcom realm of “Pleasantville,” mom always has a yummy meatloaf in the oven, the home team never loses and romance is a shy peck on the cheek. Until now. Because modern, real-life teens David (Tobey Maguire) and Jennifer (Reese Witherspoon) are mysteriously zapped into that TV world, and with them come ideas and passions that turn the town’s cozy perfection into something more challenging and colorful. From Gary Ross (“Big,” “Seabiscuit”) comes an imaginative fantasy that maintains its humor even as it reveals its own true colors about embracing life in all its messiness and unpredictability. Don’t touch that dial. Stay tuned to life in “Pleasantville.” Special Features: · Commentary by Writer/Director Gary Ross · Isolated Score Track with Commentary by Composer Randy Newman · Featurette: “The Art of Pleasantville” · Fiona Apple’s “Across the Universe” Music Video, Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson · Theatrical Trailer Order Info: Street Date: February 1, 2011 Order Due Date: December 28, 2010 SRP: $19.98 Rating: PG-13 Run Time: 124 mins Pack Info: Blue Elite Catalog/UPC: 1000174758 / 794043146114 Last edited by Deciazulado; 02-08-2011 at 08:06 PM. |

I think it would be awesome if the Fiona Apple music video contained on the disc would be in HD, esp since Paul Thomas Anderson directed the video. I would almost guess it will be standard def. ... at the least it is nice it is still included on the release.
Since this was a New Line Cinema title that went to WB's I am hoping no bad picture manipulation. Fingers crossed. |

I'll wait excitedly for the reviews of this as if it's done right I think this could be one of the releases of the year, the DVD still looks great to me so hopeful with what they can do with that on Blu-Ray.
Ditto the thought on the Fiona Apple video, a great video so would be nice if they find the time to spruce that up at all. |

Another of my old standard def discs gets retired! I think this will be my first Reese BD with her as a blonde. Need Sweet Home Alabama and Legally Blonde. Blast From the Past would be sweet too. Also get Big Daddy back on track, it's the only Sadler comedy I like other than The Wedding Singer.
Keep 'em coming. Please. |
