Bah, Cosmic Comics all the way :-)

@solarrdadd: Did you at least go to the DC Comics building just a short way down the road?

this movie looks like a joke, along with all the "VS" films they have. Is Japan cinema running out of idea or something? lol. Seriously, peoples actually like these movies? People actually enjoy the heavy gore, low-budget cgi and a bad story in these movies? I don't get it. Japan is so much better than this(their animation for example).

after you walk up the stairs and turn into the store, to your right by the dectector as you walk in there is a 10' long Thor poster, that is the one i bought. it's the same one that you will see in my gallery that features all the characters in the world of Thor!

no i didn't get to the DC comics building. i was in NY for a quickie and did a GPS search by my location for all comics stores because i was looking for that poster. i was closet to two stores Jim Henly (i think) but they didn't have it and Midtown was next and they did have it, end of search. I have never been to the DC comics building. perhaps the next time i'm in NYC i'll stop there!

These movies are produced with foreign audiences in mind. Titles like Machine Girl, Tokyo Gore Police and Death Trance were produced by Tokyo Shock, an American studio. This is what they believe will sell here, and they're probably right. Will FUNimation sell more copies of the highly regarded samurai drama "Love & Honor" or something called "Vampire Girl Vs. Frankenstein Girl" with a pin-up idol on the poster holding a sword?

I'm not sure how well these sell, but given the low budget and the audiance for them.. I'm sure they'll make some profit.

These are generally pretty low budget titles that sell based on the "over the top" factor. Nobody bought Riki-OH for the storyline

I find them pretty entertaining and have built up a big collection of them already. Are they good movies? Eh, not too much.. but they're entertaining and "different" and over-the-top ridiculous. A fun way to spend an hour (these are usually pretty short - any longer and you probably would get sick of them).

I don't know how well they do here, but they definitely have an audience, and Tokyo Shock has taken advantage of that (sometimes re-releasing these titles 3-4 times, adding "a little more" each time)

for one you didn't answer his question of why japanese film makers are releasing these kind of movies in japan or anywhere else , secondly these types of movies are made by the japanese not by tokyo shock "an american company" pew pew , tokyo shock acquires films that they translate, package, and dub. They are most well known for anime and live action Asian films for home video release. tokyo shock is an american company that is a distributer.

make sure you use your words correctly , don't lead people to believe an american company is generally making these japanese films , that is just silly billy , banzai!

I enjoy Funimation's work, especially their slipcovers, but this title seems too cheesy for me...

Well, it's rated TV-MA, which is about the TV-equivalent of an "R"

Watched it tonight and had a lot of fun - you definitely need to be "into" these types of movies to enjoy it, but after seeing about 15 of these, this has been in the top as one of the most enjoyable.

Movie itself runs 78 minutes + credits. Frankenstein girl isn't introduced until the 60-minute mark, so the titles a bit odd. It doesnt seem to drag on like some of these do (some of these feel the need to be90 minutes or longer, when they really should be 45-60).

I found the mix of mediums to be a bit distracting (good "fake blood", poor "painted on" blood and some very-bad CGI). I really wish they'd stick to the oldschool effects and not feel the need to mix CGI in when they just can't get it right.

I'm glad they didn't try to use japanese Adult Video stars in this one, as those tend to be just disaster from what I've seen (usually very bad acting and filmed over a couple days).

Video quality is about a 3.5 on the blu. It's filmed on Video (not film) so little grain to be seen.. but saturation is all over the place (even from shot to shot), they also seem to have used different cameras (maybe even some SD cameras?) as the overall look changes within the same scene from shot-to-shot. Some annoying distractions in the video, but mostly from the cameras (not a fault of the blu). Brightness was a bit high - most blacks were a grey color.

Audio is either Japanese 2.0 or English 5.1. I listened to the dub and actually found it to be very well done (probably using Funi's anime voice actors) - comparable to something like Riki-Oh, making it fun to listen to.

Extras about 90 minutes total (mostly in SD).

Overall, I really liked it. You can't expect too much out of the Blu-Ray (Audio/Video-wise) as these really weren't meant for blu-ray. The fact we're getting the blu-ray with some noticeable improvements (and usually cheaper than the DVD) is fantastic. Definitely recommended, but you need to be "into" this genre.
