Default When will the New Audio Formats be available for PS3?

Hi all,

does anyone know when the new audio Formats will be available for PS3?

I'm sure there are many people out there who want to feed their new Onkyo Receivers with the new formats...

Maybe these will be included in Software Version 2.0?

The PS3 will never be able to bitstream TrueHD or DTS HD MA due to it not having the proper chipset. You may want to check out the Insider's Thread as to the full details on that.

But, the PS3 does decode TrueHD and sends it out as PCM via HDMI. DTS-HD MA decoding is expected soon and will be sent as PCM as well. The only reason why you would want to bitstream or decode on board is pure preference because they should be identical. I like to decode on board as it decreases the chance of unecessary processing being done at the recievers decoding end as those machines are usually chock full of crap DSP's.

Using LPCM and feeding a reciever, which is in some sort of Direct or Pure mode, all that should be happening is the LPCM running through a DAC and amps feeding directly to the monitors.
