Sony Vegas Pro 8 - Burn BD straight from the timeline

Vegas Pro 8 which is released this week can now burn BD's straight from the timeline. Menuless, but still BD compatible. I wonder if you can burn the disc structure to a DVD? I have quite a few HD projects in Vegas but no BD burner yet.

Blu-ray Disc Burning
With Vegas Pro 8 software you can burn a Blu-ray Disc directly from the timeline. Blu-ray Disc burning allows you to create a disc similar to a "single movie" DVD—the movie has no titles, menus, or buttons. Blu-ray Disc burning in Vegas Pro 8 software provides an alternate distribution option for high-definition content, rather than traditional file-based hard disk or streaming media formats. You can also use the Blu-ray Disc burning feature to create high-definition discs that can playback on a set-top Blu-ray Disc player or on a Sony PS3 gaming system.

So apparently this is just a limited menu-less option from Vegas itself, and not full-featured Blu-ray authoring via DVD Architect? Bummer.

Yeah, no menus yet. Adobe Encore has also added Blu-ray support in their latest CS3 suite. I know it can do basic, dvd style menus but haven't checked it out enough to see what else you can do.

From reports CS3 and Encore is still buggy but it does \BDMV type discs. Sounds like Vegas is creating \BDAV discs which is more compatible with players right now.

Vegas is creating BDMV discs. I don't have a BD burner, but I tried to burn a DVD instead. Unfortunately, my PS3 didn't recognize the disc as a BDMV disc. I had to manually go the BDMV/STREAM folder and play the video stream, but that worked!

If you burn to DVD, I think if you remove the AACS folder the PS3 will play it.

shouldn't this be in the recorders section?
