Default Dexter Season 4 Problem

Just bought Dexter Season 4 today, popped in the first disc, a loading bar came on, now I have -: - - :- - showing on my bluray player and nothing on my tv. I tried the 2nd disc and I have the same issue. My firmware is up to date, watched a BD earlier today so I know it's not the player. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is or if maybe I'm just not patient enough?

Going on 20 mins. Doesn't even show up on the menu that "Dexter Season 4" is in the tray. Just says BD Rom.

Just put in Couple's Retreat and everything works fine. Tried unhooking my ethernet cable from the bd player, that didn't do anything, erased some of the data on the thumb drive in my player and that didn't help anything either. Looks like i'm headed back to wally world :-(

Well, I'd return your Dexter because you may have a couple of bad discs. Do you have another player in the house to test it on?

Try turning off the internet on the player if it is enabled. I seem to recall Season 4 taking a while to load for me as well even with my PS3. I believe there is a lot of promos and stuff that loads, it even made getting to where the series menu was a PITA to be honest. Worth a shot before exchanging IMHO.

I do remember this being an issue. Some folks found that by disabling the connection the blu-ray loaded faster. It's that stupid sho.com promo crap.

As of right now I've got all zero's on the front of my bd player instead of dashes...maybe a good sign haha...I know season 3 didn't have this issue...at least I didn't notice this.

Also, clear out the memory on the player when you turn the internet off as well.

I deleted the "shared cache"...do I have to delete all the individual movies data as well? (this will take forever)

That's the stuff. I was actually a little WTF the first time I enountered that screen. Like the opening to Fightclub but I didn't get the joke in this case, lol.

Unfortunately I don't see any files for Dexter Season 4. Odd thing is, on the main screen where it tells you which bd is in the tray it just says "bdrom" no mention of Dexter Season 4. I called Walmart and they are sending out a replacement (bought this online). I tried to return it to the store but they don't carry any Dexter blu's which I thought was odd. I'm just crossing my fingers this next one works...:-/

I rented my copy from Netflix but did not have any issues. Keep us posted. Don't know if I will run into this issue with other titles in the future.

I will for sure.

I called Walmart.com's CSR last night. She put in for a replacement copy. I just have to print off the postage paid return lable and ship off my defective copy. That part of the solution seemed to go smoothly :-)

I would have to agree most issues with play are because of internet/BD Live. Hell now we can even get the weather temp while viewing the menu screen of a movie. All this extra stuff and ad's just slows down the load time.
