The storage that blu-ray can do isn't for movies it will be geared more towards the computer industry. HD-DVD movies will be = to blu-ray in Sound and Video. Blu-ray can just record more down the line on its discs.

In essense...I can record my porn collection on 2 HD-DVDs or a single Blu-ray disc

I'm curious to know some of the rationale behind this. Are there some things about blu-ray, of which i am unaware or do not fully comprehend, that make it an unsuitable medium for home video?

I recognize this might be oversimplifying, but doesn't the fact that blu-ray pretty much trumps hd-dvd in all categories make it a better candidate for storing data regardless of its nature? i.e. what other factors would make blu-ray better for the storage of jpgs and divx files than hd-dvd, while making hd-dvd a better vehicle for the expressed purpose of delivering digital video?

None whatsoever.

Not unless you start swallowing Microsoft and HD-DVD propoganda and smearing left and right.

Again: None whatsoever. You are correct when you say that BR is indeed better in every respect. It has no real weaknesses or shortcomings to speak of, at least from a technical aspect.

HD DVD has got a sensor in it's technology standard, to measure the angle difference of the disc to the laser (standard in every DVD recorder). Blu-ray Disc has a mathematical algorithm to correct the errors and deviations of the data stream coming from the disc caused by a change of the angle of the disc.
You decide what's best. Apart from that, I don't see aspect where HD DVD is surperior to Blu-ray Disc... And guess what, no HD DVD fanboy ever used that argument in favor of HD DVD (about the angle adjustment).

By the way, for the technical minds among us... I was talking about spherical aberration.

Without digging into the ugly mathematics behind all this (or as my old [ancient, really], German optics professor used to say "All you need to remember is, 'De sinus of theta equals m lamda over D.") the shallower depth of the information on the Blu-ray disks and the different numerical aperture of the optics of the Blu-ray player (which makes them a bit more difficult to manufacture) significantly negates this issue.
