I love, absolutely love this film, and will be buying this the moment it comes out. But this has to be one of the absolute worst covers that I have ever seen! Oh well, lucky I don't buy films because of their covers...

it seems like many of the recent MGM covers look similar.
I just don't get how this look is supposed to say 2011.
they really seem to like gun metal grays and there's just a very digitized look to may of the new covers--like Dead Man Walking and Thelma and Louise.
the color is always really muted.
I feel like a lot of it is almost to try and fool people into thinking it looks like a modern movie.
I really think that's a big part of it.

I'd love a Blu-ray release of Jesus of Nazareth, but considering it's about 6.5 hours long, it'd take one heck of a restoration effort to make an acceptable HD master. Lionsgate may not have plans for it now, but I'm hoping they change their minds at some point.

As for The Greatest Story Ever Told, it's not one of my favorite Jesus films, but I like it well enough to own. It should look gorgeous in HD if nothing else. It's be pretty sweet if they were able to uncover at least some of the missing half hour of footage reportedly cut, but I'm not expecting a miracle (or should I given the subject matter?).

Will this be a restored (Roadshow) Library of Congress version that runs 224 minutes?

Source? All we saw about a year ago was some ugly temp art & a date that has already passed.

Default Road show version

Time listed is still the usual 195-199 min. You would think for blu ray the studio would pull out all the plugs. guess not this time around.

I thought for sure it was one of the titles Warner stated was coming in Fall 2011 along with Citizen Kane.
I could be wrong I guess.

I'll be curious to see what (if any) extras from that 2-DVD set make it over...

It would need serious work, the DVD release was horrible. I hope they can come around and make a restoration of it and release it on Blu-ray one

Well according to FoxConnect.com, these are the special features:

* "He Walks in Beauty" Documentary
* Filmmaker Documentary
* Deleted Scene
* Theatrical Trailer

So it looks like it carries over everything except the galleries. Too bad they couldn't have shown us the missing half hour of content from the premiere cut.

Default Greatest story

Does anyone think this will get a major clean-up and hit Bluray looking as good as say...The Searchers?

It'll probably look solid just by virtue of being shot on 65mm film, but I don't think MGM has the financial resources for a full-blown digital restoration these days...
