Wouldn't it make much more sense for any of us who own Blu-Ray players of any kind to make sure to pick up at least one BD the day of Transformers release on HD DVD? If we're worried about HD DVD overtaking Blu in sales for that period, if everyone picks one movie they want on Blu-Ray and each person buys a BD that day, considering there are more BD players in the market, wouldn't it offset HD DVD owners buying Transformers in overall sales?

To me, this seems like an easy way to make a BD statement without hurting your wallet on a buy-a-thon or picking up movies you don't care for. However, I'm not trying to talk anyone out of the Sept. 18th Buy-A-Thon, either. I plan to participate. I'm just thinking of a way for those who don't have the funds or don't want to buy movies they don't really want to own to make a Blu statement.

Sorry my will is weak, I will be buying Transformers on DVD. However I will also buy 2-3 Blu-Rays the same day to balance it out.

Why not just have 2 buy-a-thons since most people buy at lease one a month? Just buy that one that month on those days...

Excellent idea!! Makes a lot of sense that's the best way to stick it to paramount have BD's still outsell HD-DVD of Transformers....I as well will buy the standard dvd but will pick up at least 2 BD's......Also We are Marshall comes out this tuesday on BD make sure we get it cause it's WB show them which side to choose & it's a pretty desent movie!

THANK YOU FOR POSTING IT!

I mentioned in numerous threads during the last couple of days that this it a make it or brake day/week for Blu-Ray.

If you lose this week to HDDVD it gives WB the greatest of excuses to go HDDVD-exclusive!!!

If BR overcomes Transformers during that specific week it gives WB a strong message as to where the buying power of this new market is. You better believe that the message will reach as high up in their head offices as you could possibly hope for. A winning week will be much more important and vital than thousands of emails, letters, etc.

Second: I've read a number of threads here how people wanted to send a message to Paramount, how they were disappointed with their decision.

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO SPEAK UP!

You go out on October 16 and buy at least two BR discs will send the strongest possible message to Paramount. Possibly overcoming their biggest hit this year will be statement of support which no forum, petition, or news site can surpass.

It is really that simple!!

Pro-B

ps
I am convinced that the September Blu-Thon, as good as its intentions are, was miscalculated. It should have been placed right in front of Transformers and its release date.

I plan on doing the same thing. I have two teenage boys and they want the DVD so I going to get it, but for sure will balance this out with Blu purchases.

Wouldn't it make even more sense if we can all settle on a specific title to buy on that day? That will definitely leave a bigger impact and might end this "war" sooner rather than later. I mean, c'mon even if we would settle on a title I am not so hot for, I'd pay the $20-$25 for it just to make a point! It doesn't even have to be one that releases on the date....

What do you think?

RENT Transformers. Are you really going to watch the movie 4 times before it comes out on Blu-ray?

What do you think?

All that I am saying is one of the mods here should instigate an official thread where it is explicitly explained what is at stake during the Transformers week. I visit 4 non-English forums daily (a French, Spanish, Italian, and Dutch). There is a coordinated effort going on two of those for a mass Transformers sale.

If you think that this is not going to have an effect on HDDVD sales and sink the current BR sales advantage that week you are clearly not in touch with reality.

I for one will be buying the Transformers on HD DVD, but I will also be buying Alexander, House Of 1000 Corpses, Underworld, and Fantastic Four Rise Of Silver Surfer on Blu-Ray to tip the scales in BR's favor.
I will also be grabbing Stranglehold PS3 game with Hard Boiled Blu-Ray before Transformers comes out.

I will be buying atleast 4 Blu-Rays that day including:

28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
Halloween
Troy: Director's Cut

I will not be buying Transformers on any media and I might just rent it. I think it would've been the smarter thing to setup the Buy-a-thon on that date but the buy-a-thon was setup before the release date of Transformers was even announced. So now it would be somewhat difficukt to move it or we can try to have another buy-a-thon on the day Transformers comes out.

F paramount----Blu will destroy hddvd in the 4th quarter. Look at all the movies coming out in BD during the 4Q. A crap load of releases.

I will buy a BD on Transformers day. I don't really care about transformers, i'm not bothered by it.

I didn't even see it when it was theaters, and I'm glad now that I missed it.

I will rent Transformer when it comes out but I will buy at least 4 Blu-ray movies that day. Hopefully there will be a BD sales somewhere that week to help us out. May someone in the BDA read this post.

Maybe there should be an official buy-a-thon day on October 16th?

I know for sure I will pick up at least 1 BD that day (Hollow Man).
