Question UK Star Trek Seasons

Hey question to all you people who own any of the UK(PAL) Star Trek Seasons. Namely the newer "slimline" versions. My question is this, are the DVD's region free? I want a firm answer on this because I live in canada and would like to be able to play them..lol. I'd but the versions they sell here but they are like double what Amazon.co.uk are selling them for and i also think the cases look nicer. Thanks in advance!

I've had a search but I can't find any conclusive statement to say that the DVDs are Region Free.

I have some Voyager slimline sets from the UK, there is definatley a logo with region 2 on it, however I cannot check for you if it is in fact so because I live in the region 2 area.

Very, very few widely commercial DVD releases were ever Region 0, meaning you can play them everywhere, and as has been stated above Star Trek wasn't amongst those few.

You can however unlock any DVD play to play any region.

I might just have to buy a DVD player to unlock to play the season or maybe I could just order a UK Blu-ray player and use it for all my UK Blu-Ray's and DVD's. That could work right?

Your Samsung should have a region hack for DVD's, I don't think any of the sets were region free they were all region 2. I have Star Trek TOS, TNG and Enterprise (I'm still buying them lol) and they're all region 2. If you have a PC I think VLC player plays all regions but make sure first as you can lock your PC's DVD drive after four or five changes if you don't use the right software player (usually the one that comes with your PC has a limit with it).

I remember the PS2 had an Xploder disc for multiregion playback but they don't do anything for newer consoles. If you get a DVD player make sure it plays PAL 50hz otherwise you won't be able to play them. I think your BD should be able to handle PAL along with your native NTSC playback.

good to know. I think im going to pick up a Region Free Blu-ray player in a week or so. It'll play any Blu-Ray or DVD. I guess my only issue would be (like you said) is the 50hz. Though since it's a Blu-ray player it should technically be able to convert that...right?
