Default Center channel upgrade

I bought a JBL speaker set when I upgraded my receiver. I have been using the center speaker from that which features 2x 2.5" drivers a 1/2" tweeter. I wanted to upgrade it to match the venue series Monitors I have in the front. Here's the JBL Voice.

Should this produce deeper sound from the front? everything always sounds weak and sharp? Please offer suggestions as well.

There are so many unknown variables. What kind of amp/receiver do you own? Do you get PCM? Watts per channel? Can you alter the tonal qualities on the center channel? Up the bass and treble? This looks like a high rated center channel speaker and could only be an improvement I would guess. Staying with the same brand of speaker is good. Same timber matching.
