Default Have you ever bought a movie you hated just to support Blu-ray?

I'm curious has anyone here bought a movie they know they hated, just for the sake that it's on blu-ray? Or maybe that it just might have a good pq or something?

I mean I'm guessing plenty of people here have bought the Alexander blu-ray edition. Funny how I own every copy of this film but I have yet to see it. So why do I have it? Because I do intentionally like to own films that get considered the worst film ever. As Alexander was. It's one of those silly guilty pleasures I and probably no one would understand.

But for myself I hate the first Spider-man movie. I didn't see 2 or 3, But I'm buying the collection because I see it as a huge release for Blu-ray. Though I intend to give the first another shot, and with all three give the series a better try.

I also own AVP, which I'm a Die Hard Alien and Predator fanboy so I had to have it, though consider this film a huge disappointment.
I'm one of the only people in this world who hated Mission: Impossible, but I have the collection because I know it's gonna go up in value plus I got it cheap enough. Anyhow those are the films I knew I hated before purchasing them. But I do blind buy alot, so I have a few films I have on blu-ray that I also hate.

I got 48 currently (counting collections as one) 7 on Order but one of those is coming today "Tekkonkinkreet". I'm fine with my overall collection anyhow, and i'm getting up there.

I hated troy in theaters (for the 100th time) but I kept hearing how much better it was now and how good the pq was so I bought it. and I liked it. I also got underworld evolution as one of the buy 2 get 1 free deals. but I sold that crap. yuck. pq was great, story was not.

I was excited to get Troy on BD because I liked the movie. But I am disappointed with the BD release. The PQ and audio is everything I expected, but the gratuitous violence and nudity they added really spoiled it for me (I know, it sounds prudish). I liked the original version better. As a result, I will probably list it on eBay.

The best thing about buying it new though is the fact that it showed up on the sales records. I suppose that's a good thing in showing support for Warner BD releases, even if I ended up turning around and selling it used later. October is going to be a big month for Warner releases with 10 on the books. I'll do my best to support that (Wyatt Earp [9/25], Twilight Zone, 2001: A Space Oddysey), although I'm not really a big Stanley Kubrick fan.

Not a chance; if I hate the movie I wouldn't buy it on BluRay. I am sure there are great PQ movies but a great PQ doesn't mean the movie doesn't suck. I would not even hold Alexander BluRay in my hands let alone allow the turd to enter my collection.

No. That would make me insane.

I have taken chances (blind buys) most of which have worked out.

I buy only BD's that I like. What's the point of buying something you don't like? I need to choose carefully as I am on a limited budget, and Blu-ray discs are not cheap.

There aren't many movies I actually hate. Don't care for, maybe, but not hate. But I have bought a few I had never seen.

I would never buy a movie I hated to support blu-ray. However, I have bought titles that I have not seen to support blu-ray. At $20-30 a pop new, this is an expensive hobby to throw around money for something that you don't like.

Default Not really

There's to many choices to buy a movie I hate just to support Blu-ray. I usually buy stuff I like. There have been times though when I buy movies based on the cover and what I think the movie will be about with out knowing what it really is. I have liked all my Blu-rays so far though.

Some movies i bought without knowing what they'll be about were:
Crank (weird movie but interesting)
Wild Hogs (Great Funny Movie)
Doctor Strange(Good Cartoon)
...plus a few others

Usually I base my purchases on the genre I like and movies best for the HD experience (Action, thriller ,sci-fi). Also, reviews (Rottentomatoes.com), box office results and word of mouth counts as well.

For short, I have not purchased any blu-ray that i hated. DVD, yes, and it's XXX with Van Diesel...worst actor.
