Japan Dead or Alive 5 - "Utimate" Debut Trailer

Tecmo Koei revealed Dead or Alive 5 at Tokyo Game Show 2011, and it's in development for PS3 and Xbox 360. It will be released sometime in 2012.

This will make the 1st DOA game on Playstation since DOA 2: Hardcore on PS2(not including DOA Paradise on PSP).

Having played alot of Dead or Alive 4 on the Xbox 360 when it came out, I feel from that footage, granted it's pre-alpha, there wasn't much improved within the engine, although the destructible environments are a nice touch.

Otherwise we really needed a new DOA game in a long time, hope it's good.

I've been waiting for a DOA game for years, I'm glad to see it's coming back to the PS.

Well if you have a 3DS, there is DOA Dimensions. Or if you prefer a fan-service beach game, there's DOA Paradise on PSP which is basically DOA Xtreme but with a different name.

But yes, now the actual main series fighting games are back on PS unless you include the fact that DOA 1 is available on the PSN Store in Japan and has been for quite some time.

Not surprised to see DoA5, but I've never really understood the appeal of the game. The combat mechanics are awkward and the characters aren't really all that interesting. Really the only thing that sets it apart from other 3D fighters is the T&A.

Really the only surprise here is that it's coming to PS3.

Awesome news, DOA has always been an industry leader in their physics applications lol

In all seriousness though, the last DOA I bought was Hardcore, and I remember liking it so between this and SC5 i'm good

It actually isn't that much of surprise of having DOA on PS3. Itagaki was the Xbox fan, but with him gone, you could say Team Ninja and Tecmo can release it on PS3 with no problem at all.

Plus DOA has the main character of Ninja Gaiden, Ryu Hayabusa. PS3 has the remakes of Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden II in what we call Ninja Gaiden Sigma series.

Same here. Haven't played a DOA game since the PS2 days (I don't play fighters on the 360 because the D-pad isn't up to snuff), so this is a welcome return.

I'm simply surprised that he was able to keep it Xbox exclusive for as long as he did, if in fact he was the one responsible for that.

Pretty sure I'm aware of this, as I have both Sigma games in my PS3 collection. Also, hasn't Ryu Hyabusa been playable in virtually every DoA game?

I'm with you, not a fan of the series at all. Tekken games and Tobal No.1 have far better gameplay.

The devlopers said the game was basicallyl gimped last time due to DVD's space limitations but it is multiplat so I doubt they'll take advantage of blu-ray.

Big fan of NG and DOA (Hance my name) but Hayashi still has to prove that he can take them over without Itagaki and most of Team Ninja around. So not going to get as hyped as I would have if Itagaki and company were around. Devil's Third on the other hand I have let myself get hyped for without even really knowing much about it

DOA4 wasn't playable on the D-Pad anyway and there is a chance this will be stick only too.

I understand why people like the gameplay. I don't understand why people go on about the T&A. Mai was around in KOF long before DOA was around. And every DOA character combined into one pair of breasts would still lead to smaller breasts than Ivy in Soul Calibur

Can't wait for this one. I spent a good amount of time playing DoA 4 on the 360. One of my favorite fighting franchise.

Another lost Xbox franchise exclusive. I guess without Itagaki we can have some progress with Tecmo and the PS3.

Gotta wonder what his excuse will be for developing the Devils Third on the PS3.

I feel like I lost interest on the DoA series, tho, I'll always love DoA 2 on Dreamcast/Xbox because it's one of my favourite fighting games.

Prefer DoA2 on Xbox because of the various clothing suits it has to offer, the graphics are better and the controller too, imho.

Dead Or Alive 2 was awesome as this is where the tag team feature and interactive multiple stages was introduced. My gripes were the counter system was annoying and Tengu was a lame boss. Hardcore had a lot of costumes though.

Dead Or Alive 3 - They made the counter system a little complicated (which was a good thing to me) and the stages were farther. Omega was a fun boss to fight and the Ultimate version of the game gave you even more content.

Dead Or Alive 4 - New characters and faster paced, but the downside was the lack of costumes and the worst boss in the series: Dural Kasumi.
So after 7 year wait, we're finally getting Dead Or Alive 5, which I never thought was going to happen due to Itagaki having left Tecmo. I can't wait!

This environment's not exciting me but the character models and lighting are coming along very nicely.

Which reminds me, I hope Team Ninja updated young Ayane's face in Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus to look less.. freakish.
