Ok so if you happen to buy one of those two TVs (and Best Buy typically sells what, 100 ish different HD TVs?) you get a free HD DVD player... and those TVs are quite expensive, I'd imagine most volume is in the 42" and lower categories?

Default 9 free HD-DVD's

BB also has a promo for 9 free HD-DVD's with a purchase of a new Toshiba and right before Transformer's release date. Hmmmm...methinks BB is pushing HD-DVD.

We need to start our own disinformation campaign.

In order to watch HD-DVD movies you need to get a Toshiba player and a Toshiba HDTV.

This is kind of funny in a way. They have always said they were going to win on price. Yet, no matter how low they go, people aren't interested. They will now try giving them away for FREE to see if they can get any interest.

IMO, FREE is to costly for some products.

Basically October 16th is another buy-a-thon due to the release of Transformers on hd dvd. That's what this promo is all about.

Toshiba is getting VERY desperate. Their DUD ship is taking on water and sinking fast.

They do in Canada, right now at Future Shop (owned by, and way bigger than Best Buy up here). With as small as a 40" TV.

Our most recent flyer from Future Shop had Blu-ray on about 5 of the first 7 pages.

Does Toshiba really want to play that game? If Sony, Samsung, Panasonic (and Sharp, when they release their player) start giving away players with their TVs...isn't that like 80% of the HDTV market share?

enjoy
