Germany Nighthawks (1981) (Sylvester Stallone)

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Night...Blu-ray/34246/

This is great news! Nighthawks is classic Stallone!! I might buy this even if its Region B Locked!!! Billy Dee Williams (Harvey Dent from Batman; 1989) played Sly's partner. Both cops go after the terrorist Wulfgar (Rutger Hauer).

i hope they have the original version with the original Songs and the original 6 shot ending.

I love this flick. I own the vhs and dvd. i hope its treated well.

One again the cover is terrible with upclose shots of the actors faces.

Just read that it's a dodgy 1080i upscale...Oh dear!

It is indeed. Just gave mine a spin and was very disappointed to find that it was an upscale. That's the second German Blu-Ray I have bought and found out that is was an upscale. Avoid!

^ Now this is very sad news. Will check it out myself next week when my copy from Grooves arrives. Luckily I only paid about 7 Euros including shipping so it could still be worth the investment for me as I don' have any versions of this film yet and I love it.

Sold my DVD in anticipation of receiving this, Shouldn't have bothered. So far I've heard it's as diabolical as a VHS transfer to it's as good as the DVD with better compression...LOL

Too bad I couldn't cancel in time. I just received TANK with James Garner and it's the same deal, a 1080i PAL upscale. Ridiculous.

it's also still cut at the climax and the Stones "Brown Sugar" in the disco scene has been substituted

I watched this BD yesterday and did find the pq acceptable. Seems like a old HDTV transfer. How do now for sure it is a upscale? Yes the detail is poor but the outlines are quite smooth and not as bad as in some known upscaled BDs. I would like to see a screenshot comparison between the German BD and the DVD.

Probably because it's from a PAL source and is sped up.

Maybe it looks "better than dvd" when its "in motion" and the rest of us are crazy "screenshot scientists".

Agreed. I've tired the German and Italian Blu-Rays; they are both awful upscales. My HDTV recording completely surpasses them.

The newly released Stallone Collection does include the HDTV master of Nighthawks.
