Italy doesnt force Italian subs on their blurays, right? I have a feeling this version will be better than the forced-french sub French bluray.

Great news!

Especially for fans of the film as the French disc is OOP and expensive.

UPC: 8181120110151

The distributor Terminal Video http://www.terminalvideo.com/tvweb/a...?ART_Id=326570 listed their DVD as "remastered" so let's hope we get as great a transfer (and the full version of the film!) as France. I see it's also listed as being from "Stormovie" who distribute lots of old Cannon product so it'll also be interesting to see if they restore the Cannon logo. The only info I can find on the disc is it has interviews and the original trailer (missing from the French release).

French thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/france/851...ki-france.html

Please share any cover images you have if someone buys this.

Site (this morning) said "no longer available from this seller and it's been removed from your basket" (with an Italian accent) but as you say it's still showing.

Could just be a site problem as their warehouse/hub maybe failed to get the goods. Or just a technical problem with being such a new site.

Anyone from Italy know why there's so many names linked to the distributor? I see several listed (Terminal/Quadrifoglio/Stormovie). Distribution seems to be very messy in Italy. Lots of middle-men.

I don't see it on Amazon.it

Does it have forced subs?

I bought the French steelbook BD when it came out, which had the doc. It had forced subs, but it was the only option then and I'm a Polanski completist and had to have it.

My French BD rotted recently (along with pretty much all French BDs made within a two year period). Unfortunately, I never got around to watching the doc before it rotted.

The only replacement I could find a year or two ago was a Spanish bootleg that squeezes the entire film onto a BD25 and has no extras.

If this has the film and the doc and no forced subs, I'd buy it.

It does not seem to be avaialble to order from amazon.it yet (except from third-party sellers). There is a placeholder/page for it though.
As for forced subs. If the previous italian release is anything to go by, the subtitles should be removable. The only difference between this and the 2011 release seems to be the inclusion of the 50-minute documentary.

Here is the new release in the database. It's a BD/DVD combo pack from Eagle Pictures:

Back cover:

[Show spoiler]

Eagle have done a lot of re-releases lately, so they must have acquired one or more catalogues. Here, however, it seems that their disc might actually be different, since it has the aforementioned documentary and drops the French dub track from the previous Italian release.

James Luckard Forced Subs is a French affliction, but it is not a guaranteed thing. Check out the french thread there is a section to properly guide you.

I have the disc, I can confirm that subs are not forced. The documentary is present both on BD and in the included DVD.

Playback
2K Blu-ray: Region B (A, C untested)

The Question asked was never answered here.
So because i bought the eagle blu ray recently i think i can answer this.

Picture Quality in general is the same as before because theres only the French HD Master for this movie.

But....and thats a BIG but....this Italian Eagle Edition has a stuttering issue.

I think it could have to do with the fact that they encoded the Picture to clean 24fps. All the other Blu Rays are in 23,976fps.
Eagle somehow made a mistake in this conversion. Dont know if this is really the reason but its the only explanation i have.

During the whole movie there are frequently short stuttering moments.
How can i describe it...it looks like a frame is missing in this moments and therefore the stuttering.
Its not always visible cause it depends on what is going on in the picture when the stuttering happens.
But there are more than one stuttering moments in which you can see it pretty good.

Im not at home at the moment. I will provide a time code in a couple of hours.

FYI, I just remembered, I used to encounter this on my old setup.

I just lived with it for years until it was explained here as an issue with 24fps material. I later learned that either the player or TV (I can't remember which) was equipped for 23.976fps and stuttered with numerous European BDs, which are often encoded at full 24fps.

I can't remember if it was a player issue with my Panasonic BD player or a TV issue with my American Samsung TV. Someone here explained it once before, but I haven't a clue who or where.

I don't have the problem on my new setup anymore.
