Default Jurrassic park on ps3 network

On ps3land.com, there's an article that talks about putting Jurrassic park on the ps3 network. This is just a rumor though. This would be putting the movie on the network available for download and also putting Jurrassic park on the ps3. Making it into a game would be nice, since the only Jurrassic park game that I know of is the one on the super nintendo that goes back to the early 1990's. Anyway, I haven't read the anything new on the network for ps3, especially the interface for it. Nothing was shown at E3 and I'm thinking that this is one of the loose ends that Sony is tying up. We may know more about the network at the September Tokyo Game Show.

You mean Jurassic Park, the film, owned by Universal, who is currently the driving force behind HD-DVD? Yeah, that one is going to happen. Maybe they'll put a trailer in front of it that says "Jurassic Park. Available on HD-DVD, which your PS3 CANNOT play!"

That's what I was thinking! Jurassic Park is a Universal title. I thought that sounded quite improbable.

Not at this time. Universal supports HD DVD exclusively. IIRC, Universal Music Group supports both formats. These are unrelated companies though.

in fact, it makes sense.
universal doesn't want to release their stuff on bluray, so... we just pirate it and put it online for download
and if "we" is sony, we won't get in jail, we just get our lawyers to cover it up as something more-easier to swallow

I had Jurassic park the game on panasonic 3do, it totally sucked.
I doubt a universal movie is gonna make it on ps3 while the format war is ongoing.

That would be awesome, though.

Jurassic Park is one of my favourite movies ever (hey, not only is it awesome, but i was in grade four when i first saw it, so it seemed that much more awesome).

Also, there have been some pretty kickass jurassic park games over the years. Personally, I thought the SNES version was brilliant. The Genesis also had a version where one could play as Dr. Allan Grant or The Raptor, which was cool, but I thought less fun overall. And there was an arcade shooter which was also decently awesome. There were probably more (3do version as mentioned) with which I am unfamiliar. Maybe some relating to The Lost World?

for a game though it would depend on who owns the license to the movie.

would it? because let's not forget that jurassic park was a book before it was a movie, and i'm willing to bet that, like with many franchises, certain people, organizations, and corporations might own different bits of it.

so let's say michael crichton and knopf have some publishing rights for any future novel that crichton may or may not (don't count on it) write, i'm fairly certain that's almost completely independent of universal's movie rights.

similarly, universal has enough of a claim to independently develop its own jurassic park properties (i.e. jurassic park 3. there was no third novel, to the best of my knowledge, anyway. and i keep hearing rumours of a jurassic park 4 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369610/ .)

now, because the franchise was licensed to certain game developers (i know ocean made the snes version, not sure about the others, although you can find a basic list of jp games here, http://www.gamefaqs.com/search/index...=All+Platforms ), those developers could potentially claim they have a right to further develop the jurassic park franchise. that being said, there's probably some kind of royalty chain where, no matter what any tiny rogue developer does, various people still get a piece of the action, but... the point is, things like this happen.

just look at "never say never again." somebody had a certain amount of claim to the james bond franchise and they went out and made their own james bond film without the support of either the albert r. broccoli company or mgm studios.

i dunno, the fact is that the promise of a next generation jurassic park game is just something i have to continue to be able to rationalize to myself because i want one... provided it's good, which it probably wouldn't be
