I just stumbled across this. Never heard of it before.

Stop motion from some of the same folks that made Coraline.

A misunderstood boy who can speak with the dead, takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse.

I've seen a few trailers for this around and about, it seems like it could be good, but I don't get why only horror based animated films need to be in stop motion

I don't think it would work for other types of films. Imagination Toy Story or Up in stop motion. I just can't picture those type of films being in stop motion. Stop motion just has a weird, scary kind of quality IMO.

Not to mention the Aardman films, which also lack any sort of creepy factor. Anyway, I'm so glad we're getting three big stop-motion films this year!

Really looking forward to Laika's ParaNorman and Aardman's Pirates, and to a lesser degree, Disney/Tim Burton's Frankenweenie. This is gonna be a great year for animation in general, especially compared to last year, which was lackluster at best.

They arent SCARY though. And stop motion has been used for all genres for nearly 90 years.

Well no of course they aren't SCARY, but they are creepy looking and I don't think they translate very well into other genres apart from the more horror based type of movies.

I have seen this trailer in every 3D movie I have seen this year, Ghost Rider, Star Wars TPM, Journey 2 (only because it was IMAX 3D and free ). And it looks absoulutely AMAZING. I havent seen a animated movie since I was a kid, let alone at the movie theters. But I will definitely be watching this when it comes out. In 3D off course

Watched this one last Saturday with my kid (already released in Mexico) and loved it, i thought it was better than Coraline and I am a fan of Coraline!

I am not a fan of 3D so we watched the 2D version, my 4 year old wanted me to buy the movie for him as soon as we got out of the theater... it was funny though when he was telling my wife how much he liked it and he was talking about zombies, brains, ghosts and the like...

I would say if you liked Coraline this one is a must...

speaking of Aardman - I heard the planned 'Shaun the Sheep' feature length film is in limbo ...

it was either Tiny Toon Adventures or Animaniacs that did a hilarious in-joke with the use of the Friday the 13th movie theme music.

I've been pumped for this for some time now. I love zombies. I love animation. Common sense says I love ParaNorman, right? I hope so.
